The boots of Super Rugby 2013
Who’s wearing what this season?

One of the highlights for rugby fans when every new season swings around is the boots that are on display.
This year, the 2013 Super Rugby tournament will see some new footwear that will catch the eye of spectators, but what exactly are the world’s best players wearing?
Adidas Predator Incurza X-TRX
Adidas’ tried and tested Predator range introduces the latest iteration, the Incurza.
The new boots are designed for optimum control and grip, making them ideal for goal-kickers and playmakers.
The assymetrical lacing gives the boots a large kicking surface on the boot, while they manage to remain light-weight thanks to the construction of the outsole.
Worn by: Pat Lambie, Johan Goosen, Jean De Villiers , Dan Carter
Adidas F50 Adizero
A number of players are already donning the Adizero F50s.
These boots are built for speed and were thrust into the limelight by football star Lionel Messi.
The lightweight boots feature a resistant kicking area and a new Traxion 2.0 stud configuration, which helps with stability and grip.
Worn by: Quade Cooper
Adidas Adizero RS7 Pro III
The Adizeros RS7 line became well-known in 2011 thanks to the likes of Sonny Bill Williams and Ma’a Nonu wearing the bright built-for-rugby boots.
The boots have become a favourite of players due to the light-weight and strong stud layout.
This season, the RS7’s have got a darker makeover from last season’s electric blue colour, but the alternative bright lab-lime colour scheme will still stick out.
Worn by: Kurtley Beale, Bryan Habana, Dom Shipperly , Digby Ioane
Nike Mercurial Vapour IX
The Nike Mercurial Vapour line is a stalwart among speedy rugby players, as their light weight and snug fit are ideal for outside backs.
The new Vapour IX range comes in two vibrant colours – fireberry and sunset.
Expect to see these boots on the flyers of the Super Rugby world.
Worn by: Morne Steyn
Puma evoSPEED 1 FG
Puma’s new evoSpeed 1 range will be on display from both forwards and backs during the Super Rugby competition.
The boots are designed to be extremely light-weight and feature a monolayer microfiber to increase flexibility.
The boots also feature a combination of bladed and conical studs for balanced grip and stability.
Worn by: James O’Connor, Francois Hougaard

Cool article – apart from the term ‘speedy outside backs’ and ‘Morne Steyn’ being used in the same section…

Haha! Morne is channeling his inner winger! 😛 The vapors do have great grip and the snug fit do make for a great feel when kicking. Morne has always seemed to stick with the Vapors – comes down to personal preference essentially.
