While the weekend has come to an end, it’s fair to say that it was jam-packed with some epic sporting moments, and we’ve rounded up the best of the best that will be the talking-points around the office water-cooler this week:

Christian Atsu‘s long-range effort to punish Guinea

Ghana’s Christian Atsu scored an amazing goal against Guinea in the African Cup of Nations tournament to help his team win 3 – 0.

Djokovic powers past Murray

Novak Djokovic proved too strong for Andy Murray as he won a fifth Australian Open title in a grueling final.

Rabbitohs dominate the Auckland 9s

After winning the NRL last season, the South Sydney Rabbitohs have gone on to win the second Auckland 9s tournament by defeating the Cronulla Sharks on Sunday.

Remy’s classy finish

David Silva’s goal in the 1-1 draw between Manchester City and Chelsea was a worthy contender, but Loic Remy’s calm finish to a clinical Chelsea move proved to be the most impressive.

Messi does it again

Lionel Messi showed why he is considered the world’s best as the Barcelona star scored a brilliant goal to break the score against Villarreal.

Loic Remy’s goal was a stunner. I was running around the room like a child. There might be a spelling mistake but David Villa is not (yet) a Man City player but David Silva is.

As far as the game goes, I couldn’t help but feel like it was a loss. City at home should be a win. This game could have put us 8 points ahead at a vital stage. Was great to see Lampard back (and not score a goal).

This was one of the biggest matches of the year with 650 million people watching it (and only 110 million watching the super bowl).

Thanks for spotting the David Villa error. Fixed!

It really was a great sporting spectacle, but the 1-1 draw always will take the wind out your sails at home. Fair result though.

Don’t worry, i’m on the ball!

Ya, I suppose so. Chelsea have dropped so many points this season from drawing games though.

It’s also great that Djok powered past Murray. He is one sportsman I can’t stand!
