Thursday is rolling around quickly, and with a new month, you know what that means? First Thursdays is back, and the culture and entertainment street event is hosting some incredible sights for you to visit.
City Bowl Market on Hope
The City Bowl Market will be taking place on Thursday, with a variety of fashion & handcrafted jewelry stalls in addition to a food market. The space sources local musicians to perform at the market, each week we have someone new, showcasing their talent & creating a great, relaxed yet electric atmosphere.
Provenance Auction House
The Provenance Auction House will have some awesome items on show, which will exhibit art deco furnishings and a wonderful vintage cinema collection of movie posters, stills and film reels from iconic movies such as Casablanca, King Kong, Beatles’ Hard Days Night, Street Car Named Desire, Charlie Chaplin and several cinema greats.
Superior Goods Store
The Superior Goods Store on 69 Roeland Street has some new items and designs on show, while a live DJ will be in the shop to keep the vibe going.
District Six Museum
Cape Town’s famous District Six Museum will be screening movies and footage about District Six, sourced from the Museum’s Sound Archive. The exhibition reflects the history of the District Six community that lived, worked and played in this part of the city and who, after the process of apartheid forced removals, continue to fight to return to this space.
Sounds of the Suburbs
The after-party sees Sounds of The Suburbs comes to The Assembly with a massive lineup of Cape Town’s greatest DJs and producers, including Haezer, Das Kapital, Mix n Blend Grmehouse plus lots more. Sounds of the Suburbs is a Cape Townian based organisation that throws nightlife parties in order to gain funds for charities in Cape Town.
