Prepare those fingers! We have a look at what’s coming your way this month.
August is here! And as we head into the depths of the second half of the year, there is a diverse wealth of games to deliver a variety of different experiences – everything from adventure to horror.
Submerged
Release date: 4 August (PS4, Xbox One, PC)
It’s becoming less rare these days, but it’s still not every day you come across a third-person game that doesn’t feature combat of any kind. In Submerged, you play as a girl named Miku whose brother is injured. You arrive by fishing boat in a flooded city, and your job is to explore the environment for supplies in order to save your brother.
As you play, you’ll gradually piece together the story of what happened to the city and the world you’re in. Sometimes a relaxing game like this is exactly what you need after a long day. Check it out if you you like games that don’t rely on on swords and guns to progress.
Rare Replay
Release date: 4 August (Xbox One)
Beloved developer Rare is celebrating its 30 year anniversary with this collection of iconic Rare games. The games include celebrated classics such as Perfect Dark, Conker’s Bad Fur Day, Battletoads and Banjo-Kazooie, but unfortunately does not include couch-multiplayer-classic 007 Goldeneye, due to licensing issues.
Everybody’s Gone To The Rapture
Release date: 11 August (PS4)
The Chinese Room is returning to their roots in thoughtful, story-driven games with their next project, a spiritual successor to Dear Esther called Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture. Unlike the large majority of apocalypse-themed video games we get each year, this is a quiet apocalypse. Fans of atmospheric games should keep an eye on this one.
Goat Simulator
Release date: 11 August (PS3, PS4)
After crashing its way through PCs and the Xbox consoles, Goat Simulator is baaaashing its way onto PS3 and PS4. The premise is pretty simple: players have to take on the world as a goat, racking up points as they aim to destroy the world around them, while using the goat’s tongue to drag people and objects to their demise.

One must be strong where the other is weak, brave where the other is fearful, they must be brothers.
Zombi
Release date: 18 August (PC, Xbox One, PS4)
Ubisoft is bringing their Wii U exclusive survival horror game ZombiU to current-gen consoles. Zombi doesn’t look like a complete overhaul of ZombiU, but rather a polished-up port, but the game itself was well received by critics on Nintendo’s console, so we’re excited to see what it brings to the Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
Resident Evil: Revelations 2
Release date: 18 August (PS Vita)
One of the surprise hits from Capcom this year has been the episodic Resident Evil spin-off, Revelations 2, and the game is now hitting the PS Vita after shambling its way on the consoles and PCs.
Until Dawn
Release Date: 26 August (PS4)
If you like horror movies, then you’ll definitely want to check out Until Dawn, a game that puts you in the shoes of eight potential murder victims. Like many scary flicks, the game follows a group of teenagers who decide to spend the night in a cabin in the woods, a locale that just happens to be in the path of a serial killer.
You get to play as each of the could-be victims, making decisions about where they hide and how they react when the killer comes looking for blood. Your choices determine who lives and who dies, so if you’re always rolling your eyes at the silly choices characters make during slasher flicks, give Until Dawn a try to put yourself in the firing-line for once.
Gears of War: Ultimate Edition

Microsoft isn’t just shelling out any old remaster with the Gears of War Ultimate Edition, as the revamped version features over 90 minutes of new campaign gameplay and Dolby 7.1 surround sound.
