Movies you can watch this weekend 5 March

This weekend, you get to see two of the members of the mighty Avengers team, albeit in a little bit of a different set-up. Chris Hemsworth stars in Blackhat while Chris Evans takes a lighter note with Playing it Cool, but let’s not forget about Joke Gyllenhaal who returns with his highly-acclaimed Nightcrawler.

Blackhat

Chris Hemsworth puts down his Thor cape to star as a tough-as-nails cop who is part of a cybercrime division that hunts down criminals. He has to team up with his Chinese counterparts as they hunt a high-level cybercrime network from Chicago to Los Angeles to Hong Kong to Jakarta.

Nightcrawler

A pulse-pounding thriller set in the nocturnal underbelly of contemporary Los Angeles. Lou Bloom (Jake Gyllenhaal) is a driven young man desperate for work, when he discovers the high-speed world of L.A. crime journalism. Finding a group of freelance camera crews who specialise in filmimg crashes, fires, murder and other mayhem, Lou muscles into the cutthroat, dangerous realm of night crawling, where each police siren wail equals a possible windfall and victims are counted in dollars and cents.

Playing it Cool

For those looking for the romantic comedy this weekend, Playing it Cool stars a whole bunch of worthy actors in a relatively interesting set-up.

The narrator (Chris Evans) is a writer and wants to write action but his publisher Bryan (Anthony Mackie) wants him to write about romance first. The problem is, the narrator doesn’t believe in love. But when he meets Her (Michelle Monaghan), he falls for her, only to find out that she is already engaged to Stuffy (Ioan Gruffudd Gruffudd).
