Which movies are hitting our big-screens this weekend? MenStuff gives you the low-down on what’s what.

If you’re planning on hitting the movies this weekend, we’ve got you covered for what’s on. This weekend we’ve got a returning spirit that’s not too kind to children, a rebellious teen/secret agent, and
Poltergeist
Reboots of classic horror films are famously hit-and-miss, so fans won’t be blamed to have some skepticism for the remake of the 1982 classic, Poltergeist. Sam Rockwell and Rosemarie DeWitt star as a married couple whose family home becomes infected by malevolent spirits. Expect some jump scares, creepy scenes, and a new take on the beloved horror gem.
Survivor
Pierce Brosnan, Milla Jovovich, and Emma Thompson, join forces for the intriguing action flick, Survivor. A Foreign Service Officer (Jovovich) in London tries to prevent a terrorist attack set to hit New York, but is forced to go on the run when she is framed for crimes she did not commit.
Barely Lethal
Seems like Samuel L Jackson is in just about everything these days, and the famed actor hits the big-screen once again this weekend with Barely Lethal. It stars Hailee Steinfeld as Megan Walsh is a teenage special ops agent who yearns for a normal adolescence. After faking her own death, she assumes the role of an exchange student and quickly learns that surviving the treacherous waters of a typical American high school can be even more difficult than international espionage.
Age of Adaline
After miraculously remaining 29 years old for almost eight decades, Adaline Bowman (Blake Lively) has lived a solitary existence, never allowing herself to get close to anyone who might reveal her secret. But a chance encounter with charismatic philanthropist Ellis Jones reignites her passion for life and romance. When a weekend with his parents threatens to uncover the truth, Adaline makes a decision that will change her life forever.
Serena
The dynamic duo of Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence, both of whom stared in Silver Linings Playbook, team up once again for Serena. This film set in the 1920s follows the story of George and Serena Pemberton, lovestruck newlyweds who begin to build a timber empire. Serena soon proves herself to be equal to any man, overseeing loggers, hunting rattle-snakes, even saving a man’s life in the wilderness. With power and influence now in their hands, the Pembertons refuse to let anyone stand in the way of their inflated love and ambitions. However, once Serena discovers George’s hidden past and faces an unchangeable fate of her own, the Pembertons’ passionate marriage begins to unravel, leading to a dramatic reckoning.
