5 Biggest Sports Moments You May Have Missed
We take a look at the biggest and best goals, tries, shots, and feats from this past weekend.
The first weekend of 2016 kicked off with a bang as sports fans were already treated to some epic moments that hopefully set the tone for the year to come. Here are our picks of the best sporting moments from the past weekend:
Smith slices through Nonu – They were the most dominant international centre pairing in rugby history, but Conrad Smith managed to completely bamboozle his old All Blacks centre teammate Ma’a Nonu to score his first try for his new club, Pau.
Stokes delivers Proteas’ punishment – Ben Stokes lit up Cape Town with one of the most dominant batting performances in living memory, mercilessly flogging the home attack for 258 in 198 balls, including the second fastest double century in Test history.
Bonneval’s try for Stade – Hugo Bonneval scored a great individual try for Stade Français against Toulose with a perfectly executed chip kick to beat the defence.
Rooney’s stylish goal – Manchester United’s reliable strike-weapon has been out of form lately, but Wayne Rooney finished a brilliant goal with a through-the-legs flick into the back of the net against Swansea.
Trimble’s chase-down – Ulster’s winger Andrew Trimble put in a try-saving tackle on Munster’s Rory Scannell in his 200th game with Ulster. A fine defensive effort.
