A new week and a host of new games to indulge in. Prepare for some horror, curb-stomping, sneaking, superheroes, and some massive tackles.

Until Dawn

Release Date: 26 August (PS4)

If you like horror movies, then you’ll definitely want to check out Until Dawn, a game that puts you in the shoes of eight potential murder victims. Like many scary flicks, the game follows a group of teenagers who decide to spend the night in a cabin in the woods, a locale that just happens to be in the path of a serial killer.

You get to play as each of the could-be victims, making decisions about where they hide and how they react when the killer comes looking for blood. Your choices determine who lives and who dies, so if you’re always rolling your eyes at the silly choices characters make during slasher flicks, give Until Dawn a try to put yourself in the firing-line for once.

Gears of War: Ultimate Edition

Release date: 25 August (Xbox One)

The original Gears of War came out back in 2006 for Xbox 360, and it kicked off one of the best shooter franchises around. Since Gears of War 4 won’t be hitting the shelves until the end of 2016, Microsoft thought now would be a good time to polish up the first installment for Xbox One.

Microsoft isn’t just shelling out any old remaster with the Gears of War Ultimate Edition, though, as the revamped version features over 90 minutes of new campaign gameplay and Dolby 7.1 surround sound. Also included are 19 multiplayer maps with all the previously-released DLC, including the PC-exclusive maps, 17 unlockable Gears of War 3 characters for use in multiplayer, tournament controls, 1080p/60fps, and features from Gears of War 3 like enemy spotting.

Dishonored: Definitive Edition

Release date: 25 August (Xbox One, PS4)

Dishonored was one of the most unique games from the last console generation, so it’s good to see it come to the new crop of systems with all of its DLC included. What is Dishonored? It’s a first-person action stealth game that, depending on the mission, has you sneak into enemy compounds, rescue hostages, assassinate villains, or pretend to be an invited guest at a fancy costume party.

To help make your entrances extra stealthy, you have an array of supernatural abilities that let you do things like teleport short distances, possess enemies, control swarms of rats, and more. It’s a ton of fun, with numerous ways to complete each mission. You can even beat the game without killing anyone if you’re feeling non-violent. If you missed this game the first time around, don’t let it pass you by now.

Disney Infinity 3.0

Release date: 28 August (PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Wii U)

The innovative Disney Infinity franchise has added just about any character you could think of in the Disney portfolio, but now the Star Wars heroes and heroines are now part of the action too.

Together new heroes can join forces with characters from previous editions and embark on adventures as big as your imagination in the Toy Box.

The new version allows players to unlock new worlds with all-new Disney Infinity 3.0 Play Sets, including Star Wars: Twilight of the Republic Play Set, Star Wars: Rise Against the Empire Play Set, Star Wars: The Force Awakens Play Set, Disney Pixar’s Inside Out Play Set, and a new Marvel Play Set.
