Sporting fans were treated to some incredible action this past weekend, and we’ve rounded up 5 of the best standout moments that will surely be talking-points around the water-cooler this week.
Check them out below:
Chiefs take the crown – Kaizer Chiefs edged Orlando Pirates 1-0 in the Soweto Derby MTN8 Final at a rain-soaked Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Saturday night.
James Rodriguez scores his first La Liga goal in style – Colombian star James Rodriguez scored a classic against Deportivo La Coruna, marking his first La Liga goal for Real Madrid.
Alex Lewington’s hat-trick for London Irish – Winger Alex Lewington scored a sensational hat trick but still ended up on the losing side as London Irish lost a pulsating game with Saracens to a last-minute Billy Vunipola score.
Amazing back-heel goal by Pablo Hernandez for Celta Vigo – The Chile international’s goal put his side into the lead against last season’s La Liga champions Atletico Madrid before the game ended in a 2-2 draw.
Dramatic no-try call for Jonathan Thurston – Drama unfolded in the NRL playoff, as Johnathan Thurston scored what looked like a legitimate try, which would have sent the Cowboys into the preliminary final, only for the video referees to rule Robert Lui had knocked the ball forward. Correct decision? The Cowboys went on to lose the match to the Roosters.

How is Man Utd vs Leicester now on that list? Leicester fought back from 3 – 1 down at half-time to win it 5 – 3. Also how is the Chelsea vs Man City on the list? Literally on of the biggest sporting moment in the BPL happened when Lampard scored against Chelsea. Now Lampard holds the record for scoring against the most BPL clubs.

It was cool to see J.Rod score but I think Chicharito’s goals were more note worthy as they were completely out of character from him. Some very impressive long range efforts from a striker that had been likenned to a Ruud Van Nistelrooy (a poacher of goals).
