New Steampunk Brewery And Smokehouse Opening In Joburg
The brains behind Life Grand Café are gearing up to open exciting new eatery, The Potato Shed in Joburg!
If you thought the gentrification of Joburg was over then think again! Once popular urban areas in the sprawling city are constantly being restored to their former glory and the next destination on the list is the historic Newtown Precinct! The area is being rejuvenated into an attractive place to eat, work, live and visit with multiple renovations and new buildings being constructed. We can’t wait for this new space to open – mostly because The LIFE Group, the great minds behind of Life Grand Café are gearing up to revamp the previously derelict Potato Shed and transform it into a restaurant destination of note! Here are all the details on this exciting new eatery, The Potato Shed opening in Joburg soon!
The new urban development, known as Newtown Junction, will see Newtown’s original railway sidings, known as ‘the potato sheds’ (once the site for fresh produce markets) be transformed into a steampunk-style restaurant that embodies the spirit of a bootlegger brewery, coupled with a traditional Southern American BBQ smokehouse. Guests at this unique eatery will be able to feast their eyes on delicious meals, such as lamb on the spit, prepared in the open kitchen while sipping on world-class craft beer and award-winning wines.
We all know and love the Life Grand Cafés for their incredible decor and this new spot definitely won’t disappoint when it comes to looks. The Potato Shed will combine the raw, historic features of the existing space with refined, modern decor and design elements to bring diners a unique industrial feel that is both edgy and luxurious at the same time. With a craft brewery, open-plan kitchen, and indoor and outdoor dining areas, the space will have an informal marketplace feel that celebrates the history of the area.
We’ll keep you posted…
