2025 is set to be a bumper year for technology and consumer gadgets, with everything from innovative entertainment systems to new gaming consoles on the horizon. We’ve highlighted 3 of the most exciting gadgets to keep your eye out for:

Displace TV Pro

Arguably the most mind-blowing bit of tech coming in 2025 is the Displace TV. In short, it’s a full OLED television that can stick to a wall using suction cups. No more drilling and no more brackets — you can simply move this TV and pop it on wherever you need. It achieves this by using a powerful, suction vacuum system on the back of the TV, which will latch onto any flat surface. It’s also completely wireless and features internal lithium-ion batteries that can be charged like a normal smartphone. For media viewing, the TV relies on WiFi for streaming but does have an HDMI input if you’d like to connect a console or media device.

The 55-inch model is priced at $5999 (around R112,400), and will begin shipping in March 2025.

Nintendo Switch 2

After much speculation, Nintendo has officially unveiled the company’s next console, the Switch 2. As the successor to the Nintendo Switch system, the new system will be released in 2025 and brings a host of new improvements and features over the original machine. Not too many specifics of the hardware were given, but a ‘first look’ video shows redesigned controls, a larger display, and a new docking system.

In terms of games, the Switch 2 will obviously play releases exclusive to the Switch 2, as well as both physical and digital original Switch games. However, it was confirmed that some Switch 1 games may not be supported on or fully compatible with Nintendo Switch 2.

Pricing and an actual 2025 release date is yet to be announced.

Honor Magic 7 Pro

The flagship smartphone market is set to heat up in 2025, with some new releases that’ll definitely shake up the hierarchy of power; and Honor is a brand doing some notable things, with the company’s Magic 7 Pro looking to take Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Ultra head-on.

The Magic 7 Pro features a 6.8-inch  LTPO Equal-Depth Quad-Curved Screen (2800 x 1280 pixels), a Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile Platform chipset, AdrenoTM 830 GPU, 12GBs of RAM, 512GBs of storage, and Honor’s snazzy new AI Falcon Camera System. It includes a 200MP Periscope Telephoto Camera (1/1.4”, f/2.6, 3x Optical Zoom, 6x Seamless Zoom, 100x Digital Zoom Maximum), a 50MP Super Dynamic Falcon Main Camera (f/1.4-f/2.0 Adjustable Aperture, OIS), and a 50MP Wide Camera (f/2.0, 122° FOV).

The company is also touting the device’s durability, highlighting that it has a pretty substantial resistance to drop-damage, along with being IP69 and IP68 water resistant.

The final South African pricing details are yet to be announced, but expect it to come in at around the R15,000 mark.
