Logitech Astro A10 Review: A Wallet-Friendly Wired Headset for Casual Gamers
An entry-level winner for casual gamers.

Not everyone is out here trying to become a professional gamer with millions of adoring fans. Some of us just want to enjoy a nice evening rescuing damsels in distress in our favourite platformer. And, because there are no endorsement deals and ‘hashtag-sponsored’ gear, we’re required to fork out our own hard-earned Randelas on gaming gear to enhance the experience.
Don’t get me wrong; getting the best gaming gear your budget will allow is totally worth the splurge. But, if you’re like me and gaming is a hobby you’re required to be (somewhat) sensible about, then you’re no doubt looking to get some serious bang for your buck when investing in gaming peripherals. The great news is that it’s exactly what you’ll get with the Astro A10 gaming headset — plenty of bang, without having to part with too many bucks.

The wired gaming headset from Logitech’s Astro range of headphones is a great entry-level gaming headset with good performance and sound quality. Although a second-generation version of the no-bells headset has already hit the market, the first-generation Astro A10 is still a popular choice for many casual gamers. I got some one-on-one time with the generation one Astro A10 to see if it’s worth the investment.
Hands-on with the Logitech Astro A10 (first generation)
A take-down model of the flashier, Astro A20 gaming headset, the A10 does everything you need it to without too many fancy-pants distractions keeping you from your precious gaming time. While some people love to fiddle with RGB lighting and funky interchangeable parts, the A10 is for the no-fuss gamer who wants to get down to business.

The first thing you’ll notice when getting the A10 into your hand is that it has a good, durable build quality. Although the design is quite bulky, it feels a lot sturdier than many of the other, more expensive headsets available on the market. Made from flexible reinforced steel, this headset is comfortable, but made to last, so you’ll get plenty of wear out of it before you need to invest in a new pair. Further enhancing the longevity of the A10 is a damage-resistant rubberised cover and a detachable cable system, designed to withstand victory and defeat.
Styling and design have been carefully considered to provide a cool, minimalist design that won’t detract from your gaming setup. Featuring large and incredibly comfortable cups (which encompass your whole ear, instead of squashing them), these are a serial gamer’s dream.
The headset has a matt finish on the plastic body panels with soft, plush cloth cushioning on the inside of the earpiece and headband. As for fit, a sliding mechanism on the headband allows gamers to size the headsets according to their preference, while a ‘flip-to-mute’ microphone ensures you’re always in command of your communication.

The A10 makes no claims to be the cutest or most comfortable headset on the market but it sits snuggly on your head and does the job, even for extended gaming sessions. The headset provides a good, stable, and solid wireless connection and I had no connectivity issues when using it during a few hours of playtime.
What the Astro A10 may lack for some in design, it more than makes up for where it counts: sound quality. The headset’s 40 mm drivers ensure the A10 delivers excellent audio while gaming or listening to music. The sound output is solid, and while they won’t enhance new depths in the spectrum of bass, they are more than capable of delivering punchy surround sound while gaming.
According to Logitech, headphones have been tuned with Astro Audio for the ultimate in sound performance when gaming on a console or PC. Tuned for gaming, Logitech says Astro Audio was developed with pro gamers and game designers to deliver clarity and detail at every frequency and volume level.
The wallet-friendly headset supports compatibility with the Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch, smartphones, MAC, and PC, making it a great gaming headset for all types of gamers. They are wired, but with a more-than-long enough cable and audio jack inputs on current-gen controllers, it doesn’t cause any inconveniences.
