The popularity of amateur photography has absolutely exploded after the last few years, so this little piece retro-comeback is guaranteed to be a massive hit. Essentially a love-letter to analogue photography, and gives this generation of enthusiastic photographers an opportunity to own and use a little slice of camera history.

German brand Rollei and their original Rolleiflex Instant Kamera TLR (Twin lens reflex) from 1927 will undoubtedly be familiar to camera and photography enthusiasts – and it will see a modern resurrection in October of 2018.

Rollei explored a few ways to revive their Rolleiflex line and ended up brainstorming with a lot of professional and enthusiast photographers as well as experienced technicians. Ultimately, they launched a Kickstarter campaign that was received extremely well, which allowed them to produce a modernised update to the Rolleiflex Instant Kamera.

It’s 30% slimmer than the original, has a twin lens system, built-in flash, several exposure modes, and an aperture control, and is compatible with Fujifilm Instax Mini film – which is fortunately still widely available.

You can check out more about their Kickstarter campaign here, and if you’re interested in getting one for yourself or someone else they’ll be available for $395 (just over R5,000) and will ship in October!
