Sony’s new Playstation TV device is set to hit South Africa on 14 November 2014 with an estimated price of R1,500.

The details of the yet-to-be-released streaming device were revealed in an interview with MyBroadband at the rAge Expo held over the weekend.

The mentioned price-point exists for the standalone device, while a bundle, which includes a DualShock 4 controller, will sell for under R2,000.

Sony previously announced that over 700 games will be available for PS TV at launch. The microconsole can play many PlayStation Vita games in addition to digital PlayStation One and PSP games. Through Remote Play, PS TV can be used to stream PlayStation 4 games from one PS4 console in your home onto a separate television that the PS TV is connected to.

That said, the console’s other features will be the core focus within South Africa.

“We’re really positioning it as a remote console,” said Mario Dos Santos, CEO of Ster-Kinekor Entertainment.

“You can play 400+ [PS] Vita games on it, so it’s a really sexy piece of equipment.” Playstation TV will launch with three included games, namely: Worms Revolution Extreme, Velocity Ultra, and OlliOlli.

Games can be played using a DualShock 3 controller from the Playstation 3, or a DualShock 4 controller from the Playstation 4.
