PS5: South African Pricing Announced
Playstation South Africa provides official pricing for the PS5 models heading to SA.
After the reveal of the Playstation 5’s US price and worldwide release date, Playstation South Africa has confirmed the price of the standard PS5 and digital-only PS5 model is R11,999 and R9,999 respectively.
- Playstation 5 standard edition – R11,999
- Playstation 5 Digital-Only Discless model – R9,999
It was also confirmed that the consoles will be available in South Africa on 19 November 2020 as announced in Sony’s briefing.
The ‘higher’ price as compared to the straight conversion from the US dollar prices ($499 and $399 respectively) is due to taxes, shipping, distributor mark-ups, and other costs associated with bringing the consoles into South Africa.
On the other side of the console battle is Microsoft, who announced their next-gen Xbox Series X will be priced at R11,999, while the smaller and digital-only Xbox Series S will be priced at R6,999.
During the PS5 Showcase, Playstation also unveiled a handful of new games, including God of War 2, Final Fantasy XVI, and Hogwarts Legacy, while showing off new trailers for Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, and more. You can check out all the trailers here.

The pricing on this is fair compared to what’s in the console and the hardware that it runs on. If you did not save for this, then i guess it’s time to unfreeze that Credit Card in the fridge.
