The budget smartphone bracket has exploded as of late, with a number of companies focusing on providing as much essential functionality at highly affordable prices rather than just being concerned about increases the screen-size of their latest flagship.

Ackermans, one of South Africa’s favourite clothing manufacturers, are a surprise new entrant into this growing market as they’ve launched their own smartphone brand called ‘Premio’. Their latest model – known as the X1 – packs quite a bit of punch for its incredibly reasonable price tag of R1,499:

  • Android GO OS
  • 2GB of RAM
  • 16GB of Internal Storage
  • 8MP + 2MP Dual Rear Camera
  • 5MP Front Camera
  • 2500mAh battery

Considering the price, these are fairly impressive specs make the X1 the ideal package for a large number of phone users in South Africa.

Time will tell how it holds up as consumers undoubtedly snatch these off the shelves in their droves, but so it’s looking very impressive on paper!
