Tecno’s Sub-R2,000 Android Smartphone Launches in SA, and It’s Actually Pretty Good
Tecno drops a new, affordable Android device to help South Africans on a budget.
Tecno has released its latest entry-level device, the Spark Go 2024 edition, in South Africa, bringing some pretty decent specs with an affordable price-tag.
The successor to last year’s, well-received Spark Go 2023 device boasts a few upgrades from its predecessor, including faster functionality, enhanced audio, and a reworked design.
Specs
The Tecno Spark Go 2024 features a 6.6-inch IPS LCD display that boasts a 90Hz refresh rate and 720 x 1612 pixel resolution. It also has a Unisoc T606 Octa-core chipset, 64GBs of storage with 3GBs of RAM (along with the ability to upgrade to 6GBs virtually).
The device runs on Android 13 (Go edition) using Tecno’s HIOS 13 which is optimised for more entry-level devices, and has a pretty decent-sized 5,000mAh battery.
Camera
The main rear camera has a 13 MP shooter, while the front-facing selfie camera is an 8MP. There is no NFC but there is a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, which is a nice addition for a phone in this category.
Price and availability
Tecno’s new Spark Go 2024 smartphone is exclusively available at TFG stores for the special launch price of only R1,999 until 14 May 2024. When you buy this phone, you also receive free gifts valued at R300 (while stocks last).
