5 Awesome Upcoming Games You Need to Know About

There are some big-name releases coming out in the next year or so that many will be familiar with, but there are also some exciting, smaller new projects on the horizon that seem to be slipping under the radar. So, we’ve rounded up 5 of the most overlooked yet interesting upcoming games that you need to know about and that we can’t wait to get our hands on.

Blood of Mehran

Looking like the baby of Prince of Persia and God of War, Blood of Mehran is an action-stealth game that clearly takes inspiration from some of the bigger adventure outings in recent years, but blends it with Arabian folklore. There’s sword-combat, stealth takedowns, ranged bow-and-arrow gameplay, and some RPG mechanics in there as well. There’s no release date just yet, but it looks pretty solid, and we can’t wait to see more of Blood of Mehran.

Paleophage

With the surge of reboots for classic horror games, such as Resident Evil 2, Silent Hill 2, and Dead Space, it’s surprising that Capcom’s other horror franchise, Dino Crisis, hasn’t been given the resurrection treatment. Well, a solo dev is building his own survival horror dinosaur game called Paleophage, allowing you to explore a sprawling urban city centre under siege by long-extinct creatures. Dinosaurs, insects, and other prehistoric threats lurk around every corner, and you’ll get to blast them with high-power weapons, solve puzzles, and run for your life as you try to solve the mystery of, and put an end to, the Paleophage.

Neo Berlin 2087

Those who love some noir-inspired action will want to keep their eyes on Neo Berlin 2087. Developed by Elysium Game Studio, this gorgeous-looking action entry is a third and first-person detective shoot-’em-up set in a dark future vision of Berlin. It’s got slick gunplay, slow-mo action, and a captivating mystery to bolster the whole experience.

Black State

There are a lot of exciting and interesting games on the horizon, and one of the most unique-looking entries is that of Black State. This third-person action-stealth game is undoubtedly inspired by the likes of Metal Gear Solid, Splinter Cell, and other sci-fi games like Dark Sector and Portal. Story-wise, the game follows a soldier who is called into action by a secret group of scientists called the Architects. It’s up to the player to save a number of key individuals and stop a global cataclysm using portal-like doors to transport him around the globe. The game looks incredibly intriguing with its bizarre premise, slick stealth and action gameplay, and gorgeous visuals — we’ll definitely be keeping an eye on this one.

Acts of Blood

For those who love action games like Sleeping Dogs and Sifu, a new game is in the works that fully embraces grimy crime settings and Kung Fu action, and it’s being developed by one single person. It’s still in the early stages, but overall, the game will be a beat ’em up game set in Indonesia, heavily inspired by action films like The Raid, Ip Man, and others. It’s running on Unreal Engine 5 and looks sharp, combining physics-based combat and platforming traversal.
