5 Great PS4 Games Under R399
Dive into these PS4 gems without breaking the bank!
If you’re looking for a solid gaming experience on your Playstation 4 that won’t hit your wallet too hard, we’ve rounded up 5 great games that’ll deliver plenty hours of enjoyment while keeping your budget in mind.
Just Cause 4
Price: from R299
If riding a rocket upside down while shooting bad-guys with a lightning gun sounds like fun, then you’ll be in for a treat with Just Cause 4. The fourth entry in the much-loved action franchise brings with it the tried-and-tested gameplay experience of stunts, explosions, and liberating exotic locales from tyrannical leaders; but one can’t help shake the feeling of deja vu while playing through the game’s 20-odd hour campaign.
Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Anniversary Edition
Price: from R375
Rise of the Tomb Raider is one of, if not the, best entry in the Tomb Raider series ever. The sequel expands upon 2013’s reboot, and introduces crafting and survival techniques to take the experience to new heights, and the ever-evolving story of a young and ambitious Lara Croft is impossible to not be caught up in. The 20 Year Celebration edition on PS4 also features two previously-unreleased segments, Blood Ties, which takes place in Croft Manor, and Lara’s Nightmare, a zombie mode of sorts, which throws you into an onslaught of creatures as you try and survive. It’s a great game to play before jumping into the third and final game of the trilogy, Shadow of the Tomb Raider.
Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate
Price: from R389
Set in 1868 London, Assassin’s Creed Syndicate is one of the unsung releases in the franchise, but one of the best. In Syndicate, players are able to switch between two main protagonists, the Fryes siblings, with each having their own unique skills. Jacob is being better in close combat and Evie excelling in stealth manoeuvres, giving quite a lot of variety with how you want to approach situations. London is beautifully recreated in this entry, and players also have use of a rope launcher that allows Evie and Jacob to rappel up buildings and use a zip-line between them to make their way around the iconic setting.
The Evil Within 2
Price: from R305
One of the most overlooked horror sequels this generation, The Evil Within 2 is a follow-up that expands on the somewhat linear, survival-horror formula by throwing players into bigger environments and in front of trickier enemies, while refining the stiff controls from the first game. The story is a bit all over the place (as is with most of Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami’s games), but it does manage to come together when things start wrapping up. For fans of Resident Evil 4, Dead Space or The Last of Us, this is a great addition to your nightmare fuel.
Monster Hunter World
Price: from R329
Bring one of the best games of 2018, Monster Hunter World delivers giant, seamless maps, 4-player online co-op, and of course, a ton of colossal monsters to hunt down and kill in what’s arguably the series’ greatest title to-date. Along with being able to play with a friend across the globe, players are also able to dive into a world-spanning single-player campaign.
