5 Hottest Game Releases of February 2023
Here are the video games to look forward to in February 2023.
The month of February brings with it some notable game releases that have been long in the game-development oven, including a much-anticipated wizarding adventure and some serious sword-slashing action. We’ve rounded up some of the flagship February releases to keep on your radar:
Hogwarts Legacy
Release date: 10 February 2023 (PS5 | Xbox Series X/S | PS4 | Xbox One | PC)
Fans have been clambering for a fully-fledged Harry Potter game for years, and Hogwarts Legacy could just be that dream project. The game is an immersive, open-world action RPG set in the 1800s, and allows you to embark on a journey through familiar and new locations as you explore and discover magical beasts, customise your character and craft potions, master spell casting, upgrade talents and become the wizard you want to be.
Wanted: Dead
Release date: 14 February 2023 (PS5 | Xbox Series X/S | PS4 | Xbox One | PC)
Wanted: Dead is a grindhouse-inspired third-person shooter/slasher from Japanese developer Soleil, whose last project included 2020’s underappreciated Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time. You play as a police officer in a sci-fi Hong Kong, as you aim to take down some pretty deadly enemies using slick takedown moves, fiery gunfights, and a samurai sword.
Wild Hearts
Release date: 17 February 2023 (PS5 | Xbox Series X/S)
An unusual project for EA, but one which has caught our eye. Wild Hearts is essentially a westernised version of Monster Hunter, but promises to offer a more welcoming and intuitive experience, as opposed to the depth and complexity that Capcom’s long-running creature slaying series delivers. The game relies heavily on quick wits and building contraptions and traps to defeat the colossal enemies.
Atomic Heart
Release date: 21 February 2023 (PS5 | Xbox Series X/S | PS4 | Xbox One | PC)
Coming from Russian studio Mundfish, Atomic Heart is one of the most gorgeous and interesting shooters coming in 2023. You take control of a KGB agent sent to a facility overrun by rogue robots. There are elements of supernatural powers and fierce gunplay, so Bioshock fans will want to keep an eye on this one.
Like a Dragon: Ishin!
Release date: 21 February 2023 (PS5 | Xbox Series X/S | PS4 | Xbox One | PC)
Like a Dragon: Ishin is actually a 2014 spin-off from the Yakuza series, one which has no story connection to the mainline series, but uses many of its combat and gameplay systems; and it’s now coming to modern consoles and PC in the form of an updated remake. Players take on the role of Sakamoto Ryoma, a real-life historical figure credited with leading Japan to a major reformation. The character takes the face model of Kiryu from the Yazkua titles, as a little nod to the game’s big-brother franchise.
