Games of April 2020

While most of the world is in lockdown, April is delivering a handful of exciting games to keep you busy. From triple-A remakes to disembowelling aliens, check out the must-play games dropping this month:

Resident Evil 3 Remake

Capcom is continuing the hype around remakes with the upcoming reworking of Resident Evil 3. Like the original, the game stars Jill Valentine as she tries to escape Racoon City while dodging a new unstoppable creature known as Nemesis. The remake will take a similar form to last year’s brilliant Resident Evil 2 remake, returning to an over-the-shoulder camera, mechanics, and vastly updated visuals. It was also confirmed that another Resident Evil game Capcom has been working on, the multiplayer-centric Resident Evil: Resistance, will come bundled with the Resident Evil 3 remake. You can check out our hands-on preview of RE 3 for more info.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake

Release date: 10 April 2020 (PS4)

After the success of other remakes, Square Enix is releasing one of the most beloved RPGs of all time, Final Fantasy 7, but reworked from scratch to provide fans with a brand-new FF experience. The remake includes a full graphical overhaul and a realtime combat system (though a classic turn-based system will also be available). Prepare for a mix of nostalgia and new-age sheen when FF7 drops this month.

Gears Tactics

Release date: 28 April 2020 (Xbox One | PC)

Set in the Gears of War universe, Gears Tactics is a twist on the beloved third-person shooter formula of the series, opting for a top-down, turn-based combat game that will appeal to fans of XCOM and the older Fallout titles. Tactics won’t only just show a different side of the Gears world, but also a new era, as Tactics is set 12 years before the original Gears of War.

Predator: Hunting Grounds

Release date: 24 April 2020 (PS4 | PC)

Everyone’s favourite alien hunter returns in Predator: Hunting Grounds, which is an asymmetric multiplayer shooter where a team of four marines must try and eliminate one Predator, who a fifth player controls. Of course, the Predator has the upper-hand in terms of speed, camouflage, and weaponry, so it’s up to those playing as the humans to work together in order complete various objectives and kill the Predator. It looks like a lot of fun, and should provide some longtime Predator-nuts a lot of fan-service.

My Friend Pedro

Release date: 2 April 2020 (PS4 | Already on Xbox One & PC)

[fvplayer id=”40″]

A small indie game by the name of My Friend Pedro has become a favourite on Xbox One and PC, and for good reason. This side-scrolling shoot-’em-up takes notes from the likes of Max Payne and Total Overdose to deliver a fun, combo-racking adventure, where you can bounce off walls, backflip off enemies’ heads, and skateboard through glass windows, all while shooting and killing bad guys in glorious slow-motion.
