5 Hottest Games of December 2018
Check out the biggest games hitting consoles and PCs this month!

Ahh, 2018 is coming to a close shortly, but before the Christmas crackers come out and New Years streamers start flying, there are a host of exciting game releases to rev you up for the holidays! We’ve rounded up our 5 most anticipated, below:
Just Cause 4
Release date: 4 December 2018 (PS4 | Xbox One | PC)
The fourth Just Cause game arrives this month, bringing back gun-toting super-agent Rico Rodriguez as he has to liberate yet another country from tyranny – this time the South American paradise of Solis. All the high-flying, stunt-orientated action returns, along with the physics-based destruction, but this time around, there are devastating tornadoes and electrical storms to contend with too!
Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden
Release date: 4 December 2018 (PS4 | Xbox One | PC)
Coming from the team behind the acclaimed XCOM series, Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden is a turn-based strategy game where you take control of a ragtag group of mutants who have to make their way across a post-human Earth and dealing with the dangers that have emerged. Thankfully, Mutant Year Zero offers a variety of play-styles, allowing you to sneak through shadows to avoid conflict or to catch enemies unaware. Real-time stealth mechanics give you the chance to sneak into an enemy camp, position the team of Mutants to your advantage, and gain the element of surprise; or avoid the situation completely.
Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds
Release date: 7 December 2018 (PS4 | Already available on: Xbox One | PC)
After taking over peoples’ lives on PC and Xbox One, the ultra-popular battle-royale inspired PUBG now makes its way to PS4. The core gameplay of PUBG on PS4 remains unchanged from any other version of the game: you and 99 other players parachute onto a large map; you scavenge for guns, grenades, items, and armour; and then, it’s every man or woman for themselves. An added twists is that the game map shrinks every few minutes, forcing you to relocate to a new area, and damaging you until you do.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
Release date: 7 December 2018 (Switch)
The latest instalment in Nintendo’s beloved crossover fighting game hits the Switch this month, bringing with it the tried-and-tested 2.5D combat gameplay along with a ton of new characters, pushing the roster up the 76 fighters. There are a few tweaks to the gameplay, but don’t worry – they’re subtle. Players’ dodging, for example, becomes more and more ineffective as you overuse it, forcing players to approach encounters more tactfully. It looks to be another smash hit for Nintendo fans.
Insurgency: Sandstorm
Release date: 12 December 2018 (PC)
If you’re a Counter-Strike or Call of Duty fan, you’ll want to keep an eye on Insurgency: Sandstorm. This team-based, tactical FPS shooter is all about close-quarters combat and objective-oriented multiplayer gameplay. Prepare for a hardcore depiction of combat with deadly ballistics, light attack vehicles, destructive artillery, and HDR audio putting the fear back into the genre.
