5 Overlooked Yet Amazing Playstation Games Under R200
Grab these games for less than R200 while you can!
If you’re looking for a wallet-friendly gaming deal to get your juices flowing, the Playstation New Year Sale has some awesome offerings for PS gamers to indulge in. There are some big hitters that have gotten sizable discounts, but we’ve highlighted 5 games that have been overlooked by critics and gamers that should definitely be on your radar.
Wolfenstein: The New Order
Price: R94.75
Brutal, fast, and unforgivingly tough, Wolfenstein: The New Order is a faithful reboot of the classic granddaddy of first-person shooters. The franchise takes a leap into an alternate history timeline where the Nazi regime now rules over the whole of Europe, and it’s up to BJ Blazkowicz to, well… kill them all. The game is jam-packed with powerful assault rifles, shotguns and experimental Nazi laser weapons, so if you’re looking for a vicious FPS fight against robot Nazis, check out Wolfenstein: The New Order.
Lost Judgment
Price: R189.80
There aren’t many games that can take you from meticulously investigating a crime-scene to a dance competition, but not before indulging in a street brawl with some thugs right after gambling at a curbside casino. Much like its Yakuza step-brother games, Lost Judgment (yes, it’s spelt that way) is a smorgasbord of genres and styles, but with an overarching detective-adventure theme that makes it one of the most interesting games that should not be overlooked. Of course, Lost Judgment isn’t without some hiccups, but it’s an incredibly enjoyable experience that isn’t replicated by anything else on the market, and that’s not often said in this day and age.
Darksiders 3
Price: R149.80
The incredibly underrated Darksiders 3 knows exactly what it is and its all the better for it. Prioritising combat and pace allows the game to be slick and enjoyable without being bogged down by layers upon layers of RPG systems. It has its shortcomings here and there, but it’s nothing that detracts from a fun, focused, and direct hack-‘n-slash adventure. We need more Darksiders, and this entry will keep you occupied until we get what we want!
Vampyr
Price: R149.80
Before last year’s excellent Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden (seriously, play that game), Don’t Nod Entertainment’s previous game wasVampyr, an action-RPG which puts players in the blood-soaked boots of Jonathan Reid, a doctor who has turned into a vampire during the Spanish flu pandemic in 1918 London. The game is packed with a lot of slow-paced yet captivating exposition, supernatural combat, and tough decisions that need to be made. Gameplay wise, Vampyr features a healthy blend of stealth, shooting, and melee combat, mixed up with some spooky supernatural powers, that’ll satisfy fans of familiar action-RPG games, like The Witcher or Mass Effect.
Strange Brigade
Price: R149.80
If Indiana Jones and The Mummy had a baby, and then said baby rolled through a campy 1930s-themed party shop, the result would be Strange Brigade. This co-op centric shooter from Rebellion (the guys behind the under-appreciated Sniper Elite franchise) will be immediately familiar to third-person action fans – you run, shoot, and collect a lot of things – but Strange Brigade also has a few tricks up its sleeve to keep things interesting, making it one of the more replayable and unique games in recent years. You can totally play it single-player too, so you can enjoy it on your own if you choose to do so.
