5 Under-the-Radar Games to Not Forget About in October
A Hellboy game, a Silent Hill-inspired horror, and more to look forward to this October.

Gamers will either have a lot of excitement or anxiety for October, because there are a lot of games to play and enjoy. However, with so many new October game releases, there will undoubtedly be some that slip below the radar. We’ve highlighted 5 smaller games that you can’t afford to miss this October:
Trepang 2
Release date: 2 October 2023 (Xbox Series X/S | PS5 | Already on: PC)

To call Trepang 2 the spiritual successor to F.E.A.R wouldn’t be inaccurate. The game is somewhat of an homage to the classic action-horror FPS shooter, with slow-motion shooting, environmental destruction and a bizarre supernatural story. Its launch on PC went down well, and with it arriving on consoles this October, it might be worth checking out if you’re a fan of the genre.
Hellboy: Web of Wyrd
Release date: 18 October 2023 (Xbox Series X/S | PS5 | Xbox One | PS4 | Switch | PC)

Despite being so beloved, comic book demon-turned-hero Hellboy hasn’t had the best video games, but Hellboy: Web of Wyrd is aiming to rectify that. The developers actually worked closely with original artist Mike Mignola to recreate the art-style and feel of Hellboy, for a third-person beat ’em up experience that has a more strategic approach to combat, along with some procedurally generated elements.
Ghostrunner 2
Release date: 16 October 2023 (Xbox Series X/S | PS5 | PC)

Ghostrunner was a surprise hit when it launched in 2020, offering players a parkour-inspired cyborg ninja simulator, where you have to move through levels at breakneck speeds, avoid being hit even once, and kill everything in sight. The sequel ups the ante with more dynamic environments, new free-running moves, motorbike sections, and some trickier enemies to battle.
Stray Souls
Release date: 31 October 2023 (Xbox Series X/S | PS5 | PS4 | PC)

Inspired by the likes of Silent Hill and Resident Evil, Stray Souls is an interesting-looking third-person horror game, whereby you enter a world of nightmarish creatures, solve mind-bending puzzles, and unravel a horrid family secret to expose the chilling truth behind your existence.
Super Mario Bros. Wonder
Release date: 20 October 2023 (Switch)

Many have been waiting for a new 2.5D Super Mario adventure, and Wonder marks the franchise’s return to that style of gameplay. You’ll have to avoid all the crazy Goombas and Piranha Plants as per previous Mario games, while also collecting Wonder Seeds and picking up new power-ups such as one that turns Mario into an elephant, among others.
