6 Games We Can’t Wait to See More of at E3 2017

Here’s the games we’re itching to get a closer-look at during this year’s gaming showpiece!

The biggest gaming show in the world is just over a week away, so in anticipation for the action that E3 will bring, we take a look at some of the games that have got our intrigue-metres in the red-zone, and the ones we need to know more about.

God of War

Release date: TBA (PS4)

Sony has confirmed that the highly-anticipated God of War reboot will be prominent at the E3 show, and we’re desperate to see more of Kratos’ return. This time around, the game is wrapped up in some intriguing Norse lore, rather than Greek mythology, featuring everyone’s favourite angry hero donning a beard and brutal war axe, instead of his trademark chains and blades. The game will revolve around Kratos’ relationship with his son, Charlie, who players will also be able to take control of. The original gameplay demo gave us a look at what the game has in store, which is similar to past God of War games but refreshingly different too. Of course, the giant creature battles return and look better than ever.

Days Gone

Release date: TBA (PS4)

Days Gone is a new post-apocalyptic zombie title from Bend Studios, who worked on the underrated Uncharted: Golden Abyss on PS Vita. Set in the beautiful, volcanic scarred high-desert of the Pacific Northwest, Days Gone is an open-world action-adventure game where you play as Deacon St. John, a drifter and bounty hunter who has to use his former biker days to gain an edge in a world where survival is the only option. It looks gorgeous and the sheer volume of zombies on-screen gets us excited to what the game has in store.

Spider-Man

Release date: TBA (PS4)

We’ve had a few Spidey games in recent years, but they’ve always been tied-in to film releases; and we’re craving an adventure that really explores Spider-Man’s villain roster and one that takes the story to new places. Thankfully, Sony and Insomniac Games’ new title looks to be delivering just that. The first trailer for the game looked great, but left us wanting a whole lot more. We’re just hoping the final product sticks its landing.

Uncharted: The Lost Legacy

Release date: August (PS4)

Since Uncharted: The Lost Legacy‘s initial reveal, we’ve seen next to nothing of the game. Not a sequel nor an expansion, The Lost Legacy is somewhat of a standalone spin-off in which you play as Chloe (from Uncharted 2: Among Thieves) who teams up with Nadine Ross (yeah, from A Thief’s End) to track down an ancient Indian artefact. It’s more Uncharted, which is a great thing, and you don’t have to own the original to play.

Red Dead Redemption 2

Release date: 2018 (Xbox One, PS4)

Rockstar usually skips E3 and prefers to hold its own reveal events. But it would be a good get for a first-party conference, and we already know Playstation is partnering with Rockstar for timed exclusivity on select online content, so Red Dead Redemption 2 could very-well appear at the big show. The long-awaited sequel is set to take gamers back to the Wild West for another cowboy-packed, smoking-gun adventure. To be honest, not too much is known about the game so far, as Rockstar have been pretty tight-lipped since it’s reveal, but based on the first trailer, we can expect a far larger world, more characters, gorgeous visuals, and a compelling story which may or may not include RDR’s original hero, John Marston.

State of Decay 2

Release date: 2017 (Xbox One, PC)

Undead Labs did not disappoint with their long-awaited unveiling of State of Decay 2, but we haven’t seen anything since it’s initial announcement. Like its predecessor, State of Decay 2 will be an open-world third-person survival RPG set in a recent zombie apocalypse. Unlike its predecessor, it will support drop-in co-op play so you can enlist a couple friends to help keep the roaming hordes at bay. Your actions will again have an impact on the world around you, only this time, the ripples can be felt much further away.
