Need for Speed: Unbound
Release date: 2 December 2022 (Xbox Series X/S | PS5 | Xbox One | PS4 | PC)
The Need for Speed franchise is back with Unbound, which is a stylish, reinvisioning for the series, adding in a huge dose of animated style that blends into some gorgeous visuals that the NFS games are known for. Customisation will be key to the experience, allowing you to tune up your car’s looks, performance, and even the graffiti effects generated by your racing. Of course, cops will always play a role in any mainline NFS game, and you’ll have to keep the heat off your back while working your way up the ranks.
Starfield

Coming from the creators behind The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Fallout 4, Starfield is the next big RPG from Bethesda, which throws players into a world of uneasy alliances and intergalactic threats in the year 2310. You’ll be able to create your own character and explore a number of worlds and regions as you set out to make your mark and play the adventure how you wish to do so. It’s looking like a cross between Mass Effect and Skyrim, and we can’t wait to see more of Starfield when it touches down in 2022.
Assassin’s Creed: Mirage

Assassin’s Creed Mirage which takes place in ninth-century Baghdad and centres on the coming-of-age story of Basim Ibn Is’haq, the Hidden One who appeared in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla twenty years later. Being set two decades before Valhalla, the game then follows a younger, 17-year-old street Basim (now voiced by Lee Majdoub), who is also struggling with nightmarish visions, and his introduction to the Hidden Ones, the precursor organisation to the Brotherhood of Assassins. The game will be somewhat of a throwback to the classic gameplay of older Assassin’s Creed games, with a focus on story, assassination missions, and parkour, with less emphasis on RPG mechanics and XP building.
Evil West

Shadow Warrior 3 developer Flying Wild Hog’s next game is Evil West, a third-person shooter where you take control of a monster hunter in a cyber-punk Wild West setting. Much like the Shadow Warrior series, the game features brutal and visceral combat using an array of firearms, a lightning-fueled gauntlet and some death-dealing gadgets. Evil West includes a narrative-driven campaign with co-op play also on the cards.
Gotham Knights
Release date: 21 October 2022 (PS5 | Xbox Series X/S | PC)
In a similar vein to the Batman Arkham games, Gotham Knights sees Batman’s understudies taking the reins to stop Mr. Freeze and other villains from wreaking havoc on Gotham after Batman’s death. While the villains and setting are very similar to recent Arkham games, Gotham Knights takes place in a separate universe from the Arkham universe introduced in past Batman games. The game stars Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood, and Robin, and will use stealth and melee combat as per previous Arkham games. The game will feature two-player online co-op, five boroughs of Gotham City for players to explore, the ability to drive around via Batcycle, and an arsenal of combat and gear that will grow as the game progresses.
The Callisto Protocol
Release date: 2 December 2022 (Xbox Series X/S | PS5 | Xbox One | PS4 | PC)
While the Dead Space remake is on its way, gamers will get another sci-fi horror adventure with The Callisto Protocol, which is actually being developed by Striking Distance Studios, founded by Glen Schofield, who had previously co-created the Dead Space series. The third-person narrative-driven horror is set in 2320 on one of Jupiter’s moons, Callisto. The game revolves around horrific creatures and a conspiracy unfolding on Callisto’s dingy and dangerous Black Iron Prison. Dismemberment and environmental hazards also play a role here, which should make for an interesting (and terrifying) experience.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II
Release date: 28 October 2022 (PS5 | Xbox Series X/S | PS4 | Xbox One | PC)
After the brilliant 2019 Modern Warfare reboot, the Call of Duty franchise is delivering a follow-up to that arc of the CoD universe with Modern Warfare II, acting as a sequel to the reboot but incorporating elements from the original MWII from 2009. The sequel brings some massive changes to the gameplay, including revamped movement, an advanced AI system in the campaign and co-op modes, water physics, and swimming mechanics, as well as an overhauled vehicle system. The story once again follows Price, Soap, Gaz, Ghost, and the rest of the crew as they’re tasked with snuffing out a retaliation attempt from a terrorist group following a US missile strike.
