2024 has already had some massive game releases, but things are only getting started. The remainder of the year is full of some action-packed adventures, alien-stomping combat, and some sneaky rooftop running to round out the year. We’ve highlighted some of the biggest games heading your way for the remainder of 2024.

Star Wars: Outlaws

Release date: 30 August 2024 (PS5 | Xbox Series X/S | PC)

Developed by Massive Entertainment (The Division), Star Wars: Outlaws is the first-ever open-world Star Wars game, set between the events of The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. Players take control of outlaw scoundrel Kay Vess (portrayed by Humberly González) and her companion Nix (portrayed by Dee Bradley Baker) as they aim to pull off a massive heist. There are hints of Uncharted and other action games in there, and it looks to be a great detour from the usual Star Wars setting.

The Precinct

Release date: Q4 2024 (Xbox Series X/S | PS5 | PC)

While we have a lot of games on the market where you get to play a criminal, there aren’t too many police-focused games, and it’s a shame. Thankfully, indie title The Precinct is a love-letter to classic cop movies and indulges you in the life of an 80s rookie police officer, diving into a world of thrilling car chases, procedurally-generated crimes, and a healthy dose of gritty cop drama as you protect the populace and solve the mystery of your father’s murder.

Black Myth: Wukong

Release date: 20 August 2024 (Xbox Series X/S | PS5 | PC)

Based on the ancient Journey to the West tale, Black Myth: Wukong is an action-adventure title powered by Unreal Engine 5 that’s packed full of martial arts combat, fantastical enemy designs, and drop-dead gorgeous visuals. The boss battles, slick gameplay, and gorgeous scenery look like highlights, and we can’t wait to sink our teeth into this stunning retelling of one of the oldest stories of all time.

Warhammer: Space Marine 2

Release date: 9 September 2024 (PS5 | Xbox Series X/S | PC)

The underappreciated gem that was the first Space Marine game is getting a sequel in September, as Focus Entertainment and Saber Interactive will drop Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2. If you want to feel like the ultimate alien-destroying badass, this third-person action title is that exact fix. Space Marine 2 will allow you to explore iconic Warhammer lore environments and unleash deadly abilities and an arsenal of devastating weaponry.

Silent Hill 2 Remake

Release date: 8 October 2024 (PS5 | PC)

After the incredible success of Resident Evil 23, and 4 remakes, Konami is trying its hand at its own horror classic and updating 2001’s Silent Hill 2 for modern systems. Developed by Bloober Team, who did 2021’s The Medium, the Silent Hill 2 remake takes a more dedicated third-person perspective, runs on a new engine, and has overhauled combat, much like the Resident Evil entries. For those who may have never played the original, the story of Silent Hill 2 centres around James, who after having received a letter from his deceased wife (strange), heads to where they shared so many memories, in the hope of seeing her one more time.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6

Release date: 25 October 2024 (Xbox Series X/S | PS5 | Xbox One | PS4 | PC)

The next Call of Duty entry goes back to the Black Ops spin-off timeline of Activision’s FPS franchise, with the characters from 2020’s Black Ops: Cold War returning for a new espionage-inspired campaign set during the Gulf War. Of course, multiplayer is back with sixteen brand-new maps at launch as well as new weapons and move-sets, including the ability to dive and fire.

Assassin’s Creed: Shadows

Release date: UPDATE: Delayed to February 2025 (Xbox Series X/S | PS5 | PC) | Original release date: 15 November 2024

The long-awaited Japan-set Assassin’s Creed game, Assassin’s Creed: Shadows, looks to lean back into what made the franchise so popular in the first place: great assassination missions, a solid story, and a gorgeous setting. Starring two new playable assassins — Naoe, a ninja assassin, and Yasuke, an African samurai — players will be able to take on scenarios as they see fit, either using stealth, parkour, and gadgets with Naoe; or selecting Yasuke to go in sword-slashing and head-stomping. Of course, smoke bombs, a vast variety of weapons, parrying, and the beloved hidden blade will all be present during combat.
