With so many big releases on the horizon for 2023, there are some other games that are worth taking note of. So, we’ve rounded up some of the most exciting releases coming your way this year (and possibly into 2024):

Lies of P

Release date: 19 September 2023 (Xbox Series X/S | PS5 | Xbox One | PS4 | PC)

Lies of P is essentially a dark reimagining of the story of Pinocchio, if he was a mechanical creation and hunted by deranged robots, of course. The South Korean-developed game is a third-person action RPG inspired by the likes of Bloodborne and Dark Souls, and sees the player looking for Pinocchio’s maker, Geppetto, as he fights his way through the Paris-like city of Krat.

Immortals of Aveum

Release date: 22 August 2023 (Xbox Series X/S | PS5 | PC)

If you’ve ever wanted to be Doctor Strange in an FPS video game, the closest you’ll get is likely Immortals of Aveum. This new IP from EA is a single-player first-person magic shooter that tells the story of Jak as he joins an elite order of battlemages to save a world on the edge of abyss. Players need to master three colours of magic and unleash spells with deadly skill in a game that defies FPS conventions with some interesting magical twists.

Star Wars: Outlaws

Release date: 2024

Developed by Massive Entertainment (The Division), Star Wars: Outlaws is the first-ever open-world Star Wars game, set between the events of The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. Players take control of outlaw scoundrel Kay Vess (portrayed by Humberly González) and her companion Nix (portrayed by Dee Bradley Baker) as they aim to pull off a massive heist. There are definitely hints of Uncharted and other action games in there, and it looks to be a great detour from the usual Star Wars setting.

The Precinct

Release date: 2023 (Xbox Series X/S | PS5 | PC)

While we have a lot of games on the market where you get to play a criminal, there aren’t too many police-focused games, and it’s a shame. Thankfully, indie title The Precinct is a love-letter to classic cop movies and indulges you in the life of an 80s rookie police officer, diving into a world of thrilling car chases, procedurally-generated crimes, and a healthy dose of gritty cop drama as you protect the populace and solve the mystery of your father’s murder.

Exoprimal

Release date: 14 July 2023 (Xbox Series X/S | PS5 | Xbox One | PS4 | PC)

If you’ve looked at the squad-shooter space and thought: where are the dinosaurs? Well, you’re in luck. Exoprimal is a four-player co-op horde shooter where you hop into some gnarly exoskeleton mech suits and battle tons of raptors, genetically modified T-rexes, and more monstrosities.

Pragmata

Release date: 2024

Capcom has been on a roll as of late with the likes of Street Fighter 6 and Resident Evil 4 Remake exceeding expectations, and alongside their great sequels, they’re also developing some new IPs. Pragmata. is one such game that looks like an interesting blend of sci-fi and survival, playing as an astronaut who has to protect a young girl with powers on a world built on the moon.

Ferocious

Release date: TBC (PC)

If The Lost World was an FPS, it would be Ferocious. This new shooter combines a sense of wonder of exploring a mysterious prehistoric island with over-the-top action gameplay, where you’ll have to gun down hostile soldiers, take on colossal dinosaur threats, and survive the terrain itself.
