Hellblade Senuas Sacrifice

This week sees the return of a caped crusader, a hellish Viking adventure, and a gravity-defying royal rumble. Here are our picks for the games releasing 7-11 August 2017:

Lawbreakers

Release date: 8 August 2017 (PS4, PC)

Coming from the mind of Gears of War creator Cliff Bleszinski, Lawbreakers is a team-based arena shooter. This PC and PS4 only title focuses on futuristic law enforcement officers attempting to repel marauding gangs which have clubbed together and attempted to take the US. The moon was also the subject of clandestine testing and has shattered, leading to pockets of zero-gravity which can be exploited. It looks and sounds pretty interesting, and with the creative talent behind it, we’ll be keeping a close eye on Lawbreakers.

Batman: The Enemy Within – Episode 1

Release date: 8 August 2017 (Mobile, PC, PS4, Xbox One)

Season 1 of Telltale’s Batman series was met with a mixed reception over its staggered release in 2016. It started strongly but had fallen flat by the time Episode 3 was being released. But can a second season –titled The Enemy Within – get fans of The Dark Knight excited once again? Season 2’s first episode is called The Enigma, and it focuses on a couple of old foes. Both The Riddler and The Joker loom over Batman at the start of this story, and they’ll test the caped crusader’s wits and morals in equal measure.

Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice

Release date: 8 August 2017 (PS4, PC)

Coming from the team behind the underrated Enslaved: Oddysey to the West and the brilliant Devil May Cry reboot, Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice is a third-person action game set in the Viking age. Players take control of Senua, a broken Celtic warrior who embarks on a haunting vision quest into Viking Hell to fight for the soul of her dead lover. Strategic yet brutal melee combat is the order of the day in Hellblade, with strong elements of psychosis, so expect some trippy moments throughout the game.
