Battlefront 2

This week sees the return of an intergalactic stalwart, along with some super-powered block-tastic heroes, among others!

Star Wars: Battlefront II

Release date: 17 November (Xbox One, PS4, PC)

Easily the biggest franchise name in popular culture is getting a new movie and game this season, as Star Wars: Battlefront II releases this week. Battlefront II expands upon its multiplayer-only predecessor, adding a more comprehensive online mode and story campaign which ties directly into the Star Wars canon. Up to 40 player matches can be unleashed online, and there will be split-screen offline co-op modes (thank goodness) for those who just want some fun with a buddy.

Lego Marvel Superheroes 2

Release date: 14 November (Xbox One, PS4, PC, Switch)

The Lego games are always fantastic, and the latest is the sequel to 2013’s Lego Marvel Superheroes spin-off, which obviously went down fantastically with Lego and Marvel fans alike. The sequel expands upon the previous game with a new open world, new characters, and scenarios and influences from recent Marvel movies over the past few years, but still maintains the winning-formula of the franchise — jumping, smashing blocks, solving puzzles, and beating up baddies. The game also introduces a new four-player competitive super hero battling mode, allowing players to fight each other cooperatively in battle arenas.

LA Noir

Release date: 14 November (Switch, Xbox One, PS4)

Rockstar’s 2011 lie-detecting, crime solving game is making its way to current-gen consoles this week. All versions include the base game and every DLC case, while the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X versions also offer 4K support. As for the Nintendo Switch port, that version has special motion and touch controls. L.A. Noire is set in Los Angeles in 1947 and challenges the player, controlling a Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) officer, to solve a range of cases across five divisions. Players must investigate crime scenes for clues, follow up leads, and interrogate suspects, and the player’s success at these activities will impact how much of each case’s story is revealed.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Release date: 17 November (Switch) | Also on: Xbox One, PS4, PC, 360, PS3

After coming to almost every other current major platform, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is realising on the portable Nintendo Switch this week. In it, you’re the Dragonborn in the fantasy land of Skyrim, destined to save the world from dragons that fly around terrorising the people. It’s coming with some special Switch-exclusive armour and weapons, but is otherwise the Skyrim people have been playing for the last few years: a fantasy epic about dragons, magic, and monsters.

Sims 4

Release date: 17 November (Xbox One, PS4) | Also on: PC

Those looking for some digital WooHoo and chum-cha will be ecstatic to know that The Sims 4 is finally arriving on Xbox One and PS4 this week. The latest entry in the 17 year-old social sandbox series was well-received when first released on PC, and EA did confirm that owners will get “many” of the add-on packs that have landed on PC since 2014. So far that includes the “Life of the Party” pack (replete with a flaming tiki bar) and “Up All Night” which features a laser light show among other things.
