New God of War: Ragnarok Trailer, Tekken 8, & All The New Games Revealed at the Playstation Event
Check out the biggest reveals and trailers from the State of Play event.
Playstation’s State of Play event took place last night, 13 September, and with it came a host of new trailers, game reveals, and updates on some big upcoming titles. We’ve rounded up everything you may have missed at the spiffy event:
Tekken 8
Platform: PS5 | Xbox Series X/S | PC
Namco Bandai unveiled that the eighth primary entry into the long-time running fighting franchise, Tekken, is in the works. The announcement was accompanied by a trailer showcasing what looked to be a mix of gameplay and in-game cutscenes of a fight between Jin and Kazuya Kazama.
God of War: Ragnarok
Platform: PS5 | PS4
One of the biggest games still coming this year is undoubtedly God of War: Ragnarok, the sequel to 2018’s soft-reboot entry of the franchise. If this brand-new story trailer revealing new gameplay and some dramatic moments between Kratos and his son Atreus doesn’t get your pumped for the November release, nothing will.
Rise of the Ronin
Platform: PS5
Coming from Team Ninja (Ninja Gaiden, Nioh), Rise of the Ronin is an upcoming open-world action-RPG set in 19th century Edo period Japan. The game’s first trailer shows off some spectacular action, with its hero using swords and guns to take out enemies, launch his way up to buildings with a grappling hook, and even take flight using an ancient Japanese wingsuit contraption. Rise of the Ronin is confirmed to be a PS5 exclusive.
Like a Dragon: Ishin
Platform: PS5 | PS4
Like a Dragon: Ishin is actually a 2014 spin-off from the Yakuza series, one which has no story connection to the mainline series, but uses many of its combat and gameplay systems; and it’s now coming to the PS4 and PS5 in the form of an updated remake. Players take on the role of Sakamoto Ryoma, a real-life historical figure credited with leading Japan to a major reformation. The character takes the face model of Kiryu from the Yazkua titles, as a little nod to the game’s big-brother franchise.
Stellar Blade
Platform: PS5
Previously known as Project Eve, Stellar Blade is an action game which takes place in the not-too-distant future where you play as a warrior named Eve, who has to take on an unknown enemy. The game is full of slick and shiny combat, and looks glorious in motion. Fans of Devil May Cry and other hack-‘n-slash titles may want to keep an eye on this one.
Synduality
Platform: PS5
Synduality is a single and multiplayer mech-combat that has hints of Ghost in the Shell in its presentation. Set in 2222, the game sees you embark on a brand new dystopian journey with a Magus, your AI partner, to explore the post-apocalyptic world of Amasia. Armed with your mech, compete for resources, avoid the rain, and reclaim the ground humanity has lost, in a future where humans and AI must find a way to work together.
