Last week, we made some predictions for the upcoming E3 2016 gaming expo, and the reveal of Resident Evil 7 was one of our speculations (because we’re totally the new-age Nostradamuses), and now, we’ve got some new information that packs on the weight to our theories.

Yesterday, Capcom released its figures for the financial year ending 31st March 2015. The company made a truck-load of money, but hidden away in the corporate hullabaloo was the following:

“In the fiscal year ending March 31, 2017, the Company is scheduled to release the strategic titles of Sengoku BASARA Sanada Yukimura-den (for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3), which showcases the life of Sanada Yukimura, and Resident Evil Umbrella Corps (for PlayStation 4 and PC) of the Resident Evil series, which marked its 20th anniversary in March 2016, as warm up to the full-scale offensive planned for the second half of the year. Additionally, the Company is also scheduled to launch “Ace Attorney 6” (for the Nintendo 3DS system) and Monster Hunter Stories (for the Nintendo 3DS system).”

A “warm up to the full-scale offensive planned for the second half of the year” comment has got Resident Evil fans’ tongues wagging. What could this “full-scale offensive” be? It’s definitely a primary entry into the RE series, but how exactly it will be packaged has got us wondering.

Resident Evil 6 was essentially three games in one (with a fourth bonus campaign unlocked once completed), so whether Resident Evil 7 takes a similar approach or something completely different will likely be revealed at E3 2016.
