The Crew: Motorfest is one of the biggest and most-anticipated games launching in 2023; but what exactly is this new Crew spin-off/sequel? Ubisoft’s third instalment into the now-beloved overland/oversea racing franchise takes a more festival approach to the action, giving you a ton of races, challenges, and, of course, vehicles to embrace. There are some exciting features in the game, so here are 5 things to look out for with The Crew: Motorfest.

Lei’d back

The Crew: Motorfest takes place in a whole new location to the series: O’ahu, Hawaii. While this island setting is a beautiful, tropical paradise, things are going to get loud across the landscape when The Crew rolls in. The map itself features Honolulu, plenty of beautiful beaches, mountain paths to drift through, and a whole lot more surprises to uncover; so to say that there’s a diversity of locales and routes is an understatement.

Festival-vibes

While The Crew and The Crew 2 were all about a race across North America, this iteration really embraces the ‘weekend festival’ nature of racing events held in one massive location, along with the celebration of car culture. Races are bigger, more theatrical, vibrant, and alive; and the entire island gets in on the action, so you’ll be able to cruise around the open-world, find new challenges, and partake in the festival action just about anywhere you explore, whether that’s careening down a volcano or drifting through the street’s of Hawaii’s capital.

Diving Deeper

Across the open-world playground in The Crew: Motorfest, players can indulge in what the devs are calling Playlists: a series of short thematic campaigns offering unique and exciting car culture experiences. Each one is carefully designed to immerse you in a different car culture universe, with tailored races, themed events, and other unique challenges. Master vintage classics or electric supercars, become a track champion or just cruise along your friends: there is always a Playlist for you.

Toys for the Boys

The Crew: Motorfest features over 600 (yeah, you read right) vehicles, including new brands, new car categories, and dozens of new models. Players can drive the most exclusive hypercars, such as the Lamborghini Revuelto, discover two generations of Toyota Supra, go electric with the Lotus Evija, let rip in some offroad buggies, and a whole lot more. The attention to detail is ridiculous, and will even blow away longtime fans of the series.

Bring some friends

Of course, when jumping online or offline, there are a lot of game modes to enjoy with The Crew: Motorfest. In addition to the Playlists, there are 28-player Grand Races, Summit Contests, and something to shake it all up: 32-player Demolition Royales, which sees 8 crews of 4 each engage in a last-man-standing elimination event where you try and wipe each other out in an ever-shrinking map.

While other racing games in the genre might bring a no-nonsense approach, The Crew: Motorfest is all about fun, excitement, and speed, and will undoubtedly appeal to those fans of Forza Horizon and Motorstorm. It’s got a great setting, solid physics and racing foundations to build off of, and some spiffy visuals. We can’t wait for it to launch on 14 September for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
