The annual Video Game Awards took place on 9 December, and with it came a host of unexpected announcements, new game reveals, and some fresh trailers for some of the biggest games coming our way. We’ve wrapped up all the best trailers and reveals that you need to know about:

Sonic Frontiers

A brand-new open-world Sonic game was announced by Sega, which will be the blue hedgehog’s first foray into a full sandbox environment. Not too much else was shared, but it looks promising from the initial shots, and will release in late 2022.

Star Wars: Eclipse

Developed by Detroit: Become Human and Heavy Rain‘s Quantic Dream, Star Wars: Eclipse is an intricately branching action-adventure game set during the High Republic era that can be experienced in many ways, and puts the destinies of multiple playable characters in your hands.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2

The underappreciated gem that was the first Space Marine game is getting a sequel, as Focus Entertainment and Saber Interactive announced Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2. The third-person action title will allow you to explore iconic Warhammer lore environments and unleash deadly abilities and an arsenal of devastating weaponry to obliterate the relentless Tyranid hordes.

Alan Wake 2

It’s been rumoured for a while, but Remedy finally announced a full sequel to 2010’s Alan Wake. We just got a CG/live-action trailer, but it looks like the horror and survival elements of the game are going to be amped up to 10. Alan Wake 2 is set for a 2023 release.

Slitterhead

Silent Hill creator Keiichiro Toyama announced his new game, Slitterhead, which will be a survival horror title with grotesque monsters and mind-bending moments set for release in 2023.

Wonder Woman

Warner Bros. and Monolith Productions surprised the audience with the news that a Wonder Woman game was in the works. Monolith is best known for its work on the Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War games.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League

We got some new gameplay for the upcoming Suicide Squad game from Rocksteady Studios, showcasing the various supervillains in action as they try to hunt down Superman, Flash, and the rest of the Justice League.

Evil West

Focus Entertainment and Shadow Warrior developer Flying Wild Hog provided a gameplay reveal trailer of Evil West, the dark fantasy, Weird West, third-person action game coming in 2022.

A Plague’s Tale: Requiem

A Plague’s Tale: Requiem, which is the sequel to A Plague’s Tale: Innocence got some new gameplay, showing the larger and more diverse environments and enemies that await Amicia and Hugo.

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2

Ninja Theory revealed the first gameplay trailer for Senua’s Saga: Helblade II. The gameplay showcases protagonist Senua working together with a group of warriors to take down a truly large being of seemingly mythical origins

Forspoken

Forspoken, the first game from Luminous Productions, got a new trailer, giving a more in-depth look at the story of the upcoming action game. Forspoken follows the journey of Frey, a young New Yorker transported to the beautiful and cruel land of Athia.
