Xbox Game Pass Price Increase on the Cards for South Africa
Xbox and PC gamers can expect a jump in cost for their Game Pass subscription.
Xbox and PC gamers across South Africa who use Microsoft’s GamePass subscription service to play their games will be in for a price-increase to take effect in September 2024.
The company is increasing its Game Pass price worldwide, so gamers across the globe are expected to pay a bit more for their on-going game service; with Xbox also adding a brand-new tier to their offering.
The new prices are as per the below:
Game Pass Ultimate (monthly):
- Was R129 -> Now R199
Game Pass Core (12 month subscription):
- 1 Month: Was R79 -> Now R99
- 3 Month: Was R199 -> Now R249
- 6 Month: Was R319 -> Now R399
- 12 month: Was R479 -> Now R799
PC Game Pass (PC only; monthly):
- Was R79 -> Now R119
The price increase is quite a substantial one, but the value-offering of GamePass is a worthwhile option, in our view, of course.
Additionally, it was also confirmed that Microsoft will add another Xbox Game Pass option — the Standard subscription tier — to the existing Ultimate and PC Game Pass offerings. The new Standard tier will exclude incoming day-one titles, meaning you won’t be able to play the likes of Doom: Dark Ages, Gears of War: E-Day, and other first-party games set for release, but will have access to the other games in the library.
These new prices will go into effect on 12 September across all regions.
