Microsoft has finally revealed that the Xbox Series X console will launch worldwide in November 2020.

The company didn’t confirm when in November it will launch, but it’s likely that it’ll be in the latter half of the month, which would see it launch as close to the holiday period as possible.

In addition, Microsoft confirmed that the Xbox Series X will launch with its backwards compatibility features fully functional, allowing you to play thousands of games, spanning four generations, from the get-go. Not only will a huge library of Xbox, Xbox 360, and Xbox One games be playable, but many of them will be enhanced by playing them on the Xbox Series X.

“These optimisations include the ability to render titles with increased resolutions up to 4K, delivering new HDR reconstruction techniques to games that were developed years before HDR came into existence, applying anisotropic filtering to improve image quality, and creating ways to increase or double the frame rate of certain titles,” explained Microsoft on the Xbox blog.

Also, over 100 recently-released and incoming games, including the likes of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Dirt 5, Gears Tactics, Yakuza: Like a Dragon, and Watch Dogs: Legion, have been optimised for Xbox Series X.

Microsoft’s Smart Delivery system will also be in affect, which means that you only have to buy these games (and any others labelled with the ‘Smart Delivery’ feature) once in order to play the Xbox One and Xbox Series X versions.

In July, Microsoft also unveiled a bunch of new, next-gen games heading for the Xbox One X during the launch period.
