Kolisi Gets First Signature Rugby Boot from Adidas

Springbok captain Siya Kolisi and Adidas have unveiled the player’s first signature series boot, giving the Adidas Adizero RS15 a new coat of paint to highlight some key milestones from the flanker.

The Adidas Adizero RS15 was unveiled last month ahead of the Rugby World Cup, which will, be worn by many players in the global showpiece. Kolisi has now received his own spin on the new boot, giving the upper a unique colourway and design. He (and Damian Willemse) did wear them against Wales and the All Blacks in recent weeks, but now we’ve finally got a good look at them.

The boot itself features all the elements found on the RS15, but includes a multicoloured upper, featuring the shades of the South African flag, alongside some smaller details contributed by Kolisi himself.

“The phrase ‘I Love Zwide’ is penned in my handwriting on the back tab, while the intricate map of the township I proudly call home is integrated into the boot’s overall print,” he explained.

“The diverse colours woven into the design hold special meanings: green and gold pay homage to the African Bombers, blue represents my high school, Grey PE, red and black symbolise the Mighty Elephants and Sharks respectively, blue stands for the Stormers (where I made my Super Rugby debut), and the touch of pink commemorates the Mothers Day jersey Adidas crafted (in 2015), featuring my mother’s name – a jersey I had the honour of wearing on the field.”

The Kolisi edition of the Adidas RS15 is available on Adidas’ online store at R4,499. France has also got their own version of the RS15 (a blue and orange edition) and the All Blacks received a blackout version with white stripes. You can check out those colourways here.
