Those who are in the gym, playing sports, or indulging in physically-draining hobbies on a weekly basis will know that one of the most tricky things to deal with is how you recover. You don’t need to be a Wim Hof-ice-plunging warrior, but doing a few small things post-workout can help bring out your best during your next session; and we’ve found some items that help do the trick.

Crocs/Comfy slides

Yeah, we’re bringing out the Crocs with this one. One of the most important things to do after a hard sports game or workout is to relax your plantar fascia, the tissue in your feet. This is because, well, if your feet are tight, everything else will suffer, and while you’re working out, lifting weights, or planing your feet during sports, the muscles in your feet are constantly tightening and adjusting.

Ease them by slipping into some softer shoes or slides the day after. We’ve found Crocs’ Classic Slides (R599.95) to be an easy go-to, providing ergonomic support and a bit of squishy-ness for your poor meat pins. You can even further relax your feet by using a tennis ball under your foot or a trigger ball to release some of the tension.

Groovi Freeze Ice Pack

We’ve tried a lot of ice packs in our time, and they always end up breaking, oozing out, or are just too tricky to hold in place. The Groovi Freeze Ice Pack (R456.50) is a classic waterproof material ice pack, but the real trick is the compression brace and straps that come with it. With the brace, you can apply the pack to any key location on limbs, strap it on, and even manipulate it to sit anywhere you need.

Hyperice Venom Knee

If you’re happy to spend a little more money on your recovery process, it opens a whole new world of body-boosting toys you can play with, especially from those recovery specialists at Hyperice. The Hyperice Venom Knee (R4,599) is a vibration and heat strap which you can hook on your knees, legs, or arms, and provides three different vibration patterns with multiple heat settings. This is a game changer if you have niggly calves, tight quads, or aching knees, helping you loosen up those stubborn muscles before and after workouts.
