The Best Barber in Cape Town?

We’ve found ourselves scouring the streets of Cape Town to find the very-best haircut available to guys, with a reasonable price in mind, of course. It’s not as easy as you’d think – there’s a lot of great places available, but overbooking, sky-high prices, and some locations just make it difficult to pop out for a quick cut before the weekend. Thankfully, we’ve discovered a haven, or rather the man, you need to see in the Mother City.

Johnny Scissors is an independent barber who specialises in gent’s cuts, but also offers the ladies everything they would need too. Located in Wembley Square in the Furr, Johnny Scissors is easy to get to and the perfect place for anyone working in and around the CBD.

Mr. Scissors himself hails from good ole Leeds in England and brings some international experience to the barber’s chair and also having a great eye for latest trends and styles in the men’s grooming scene.

I popped in there upon a word-of-mouth recommendation and couldn’t have been more pleasantly surprised. Johnny was accommodating, friendly, and we had a great chat before kicking things off. He adds a personal touch to the experience and takes bookings when it suits the customer – which is great.

Johnny uses an electric clipper where necessary, but is somewhat of a ninja with his scissors, as his name would suggest. Johnny can blend and shape your hair perfectly, so it not only looks great for the short-term, but will grow out how you wish.

My hair wasn’t particularly long (although admittedly a little messy), but Johnny was able to tidy up the sides and back, and even-out the top to the perfect length thanks to some meticulous attention to detail that many other barbers wouldn’t be able to achieve.

If that wasn’t enough, Johnny is a self-proclaimed beard-lover, and was able to style and groom my crumb-catcher by tidying up the lines and trimming where necessary.
