Hudsons Launch Phenomenal R20 Slider Burger Special! [Review]
Slide into your weekend the right way!

I am beyond crazy about food in miniature form. Like a lot of food-obsessed people, my eyes are too big for my stomach and I often experience serious food FOMO when I see more than on thing on a restaurant menu that I want to indulge in. Enjoying pint-sized versions of food solves this problem as it essentially allows me to stuff more types of delicious grub into my pie-hole. Which is why I was elated to discover that Hudsons the Burger Joint will soon be offering the best special in the history of ever: a new mouthwatering sliders menu with a wide range of mini burgers at just R20 each! Here’s everything you need to know about the new Hudsons ‘Slide into the Weekend’ special launching Thursday 5 April 2018.
There’s no doubt about it, these tiny burgers are big fun so if you don’t have plans this Thursday (heck, even if you do, cancel them!) get yourself down to your local Hudsons for a night of pure burger heaven. If you’re already a Hudsons fan, then you know that sliders are nothing new to the popular burger joint, as they already offer three different slider options on their regular menu. However, this special takes that concept to a whole new level by allowing you to try even more of your favourite Hudsons burgers in slider form.
There will be three Hudsons ‘Slide into the Weekend’ menus on rotation each week, with 12 burgers on each menu, and diners can expect to see some classic Hudsons’ burgers on the menu, along with some new ones. Think delights like The Works (beef patty with mustard mayo, tomato relish, cheddar, lettuce, red onion, and homemade pickles), The Royale (beef patty with streaky bacon, cheddar, battered onion rings, and chilli aioli), and The Cheerleader (falafel patty with caramelised onions, tomato relish, mozzarella, and rocket). The sliders feature a 60g patty, so three sliders would make up a traditional 180g burger, if you’re thinking about making a meal of it.
I got to sample 8 of the sliders on the upcoming menu (I promise I didn’t eat all 8 alone, I had help!) and I must say it was loads of fun sampling mini versions of burgers that I’d been dying to try at Hudsons, but just never got around to. For example, The Hudson (beef patty topped with mustard mayo and homemade pickles) – I was always intrigued by this seemingly plain burger but being a creature of habit, I almost always opted for my old favourite, The Works, instead. Now I’m kicking myself for not ordering it sooner. The creamy mustard mayo combined with the sweet-sour of the pickle is the perfect combination – proof that the simple things in life are often better!
Another winner is The Bacon Jam (beef patty topped with cheddar, bacon jam, dusted onions, and rocket). This was also my first time trying this yummy mouthful and boy was it worth the wait. The sticky sweet bacon jam adds a subtle sweetness to the burger and pairs beyond well with the smokey bacon and gooey cheddar cheese. If you’re more of a chicken burger fan, then you will love getting your fingers dirty with the El Camino (chicken patty with nacho, guacamole, salsa, and sour cream) – this tasty morsel is a Mexican delight of note and a must-try!
Want to try it out for yourself? The Slide into the Weekend special is pretty straightforward: simply book a table at Hudsons on a Thursday (the special runs all day every Thursday for the foreseeable future) and take your pick from a selection of 12 different sliders at R20 each. There is a minimum order of three sliders per person. Don’t forget to finish off your meal with a side – if you love spicy foods then I would recommend the Disco Fries (R33) – topped with creamy peri-peri and mozzarella, it’s a gooey bowl of pure happiness.
