Spectators are welcome to attend the event. There is nothing better for an athlete than having their friends and family cheering them on. So why not come to support and see what the race is all about?
According to HYROX SA, the spectator area has been designed so an athlete’s support group can be close by at almost every workout. Spectator tickets, like athlete tickets, can be purchased online on the event page of the HYROX website or on-site on event day (the event is cashless so don’t forget your debit card!).
Spectator tickets are priced at R150 per person. Children under 12 get in free and must be accompanied by an adult.

Our event MCs will keep the crowds engaged, encouraging athletes as they navigate the various stations in the RoxZone and complete their runs.”

HYROX race day tips for athletes
Arrive Early: On the day, plan to arrive early to the event to give yourself enough time for registration, warming up, and familiarising yourself with the course layout. This can also help ease any pre-race jitters and get you excited for your race.
Gear and Attire: Wear comfortable, breathable clothing appropriate for both running and functional movements. As far as footwear goes, consider a shoe that will provide stability during exercises and efficiency during runs. Many of the top HYROX athletes lean towards the Puma Deviate Nitro 3 running shoes, which are a great all-rounder for hybrid training. Make sure you’ve trained in both the clothes and shoes that you plan to race in. An irritable bra or stiff shoes can ruin your run experience, so make sure you ‘break in’ your gear before race day.
Pace Yourself: With the adrenaline rush of race day, it’s tempting to start too fast and go in guns blazing. This is probably the most common mistake that an athlete makes when competing in HYROX for the first time. Try to calm that nervous energy and focus on pacing yourself. HYROX is a marathon, not a sprint, and if you push too hard, or too fast, you can ruin your legs for the rest of the race. Your consistent effort across all segments of the race will lead to the best overall performance. You can always push yourself harder in the later stages, if you’re still feeling fresh.
Have Fun! Don’t forget to enjoy yourself! Try not to worry too much about your performance and training. Try to focus your mind to be in the moment and enjoy the experience. It’s a fantastic event, with a supportive community. Soak it up and just have fun — you’ve put in the work before race day so enjoy it.
