UK Fitness Race, ‘Deadly Dozen’ Comes to Cape Town in 2025
Green Point Athletic Stadium to Host ‘Deadly Dozen’ Fitness Race.
Get ready hybrid athletes, a new fitness race is coming to South Africa. Founded in the UK in 2024, The Deadly Dozen fitness race series is now expanding internationally with its first South African race announced for Cape Town early this year.
Taking place on Saturday 22nd of March 2025 at Green Point Athletic Stadium, Deadly Dozen Cape Town will put hybrid athletes through their paces with both track and functional fitness-based challenges designed to test physical endurance and strength. It’s the ultimate fitness test!
What does the Deadly Dozen fitness race entail?
Deadly Run, the main event format, combines 12x 400m track runs with 12 ‘Labours’ (exercise stations). The great thing about Deadly Dozen is the events are all set around athletics tracks to truly up the ante. The labours are designed to work fundamental movements, like squat, deadlift, lunge and press. The Labours only use bodyweight, kettlebell, dumbbell, and weight plate exercises. Therefore, race training is incredibly accessible in any setting, whether in a gym, at home or outdoors. Ultimately, an individual could effectively train for the event with just a pair of kettlebells.
Even better, to make the Deadly Dozen brand even more accessible, the format also allows for smaller, gym-based events like Deadly Strong (focusing solely on the 12 Labours) and Deadly ERG (which integrates row-erg, ski-erg, and bike-erg, between Labours).
The innovative new race concept is sure to be a welcome addition to the growing fitness race calendar in South Africa along with Hyrox South Africa. Like Hyrox, Deadly Dozen is a fitness race that combines running and functional fitness, making it easier for fitness race enthusiasts to include both races in their event calendar for the year.

The founders of Deadly Dozen say the unique fitness race format was created to bring fitness enthusiasts a race that works all the different components of fitness. Deadly Dozen will not only work the aerobic system of fitness, it will also work muscular strength and endurance.
But, before you get too intimidated, the team behind the madness is quick to point out that the race is also really accessible, there is not a massive strength barrier to entry, and it is not particularly technical, so anyone can do it, as long as they’re willing to work hard.
