Shawn Odendaal, a passionate, award winning 28-year-old hairdresser and part-owner at Paul James Male (a partner of Legacy Lifestyle) in the New Redruth Village shopping centre, is the go-to guy in town. Shaun has bagged himself over 50 awards in his nine years of hairdressing, along with Twincare Hairstylists of the year in 2016 “The Boys”.

Shawn has prided himself on being a specialist men’s hairstylist, and after training in the UK, has joined the Paul James brand to create South Africa’s first Paul James Male, which has found a healthy community of “loyal customers“.

My journey started as an apprentice in Alberton City and I worked my way up from there to where I am today.”

Regarding some tips for those men chasing the beard-dream this winter, Shawn has a few words of wisdom: “Use a moisturising shampoo and conditioner, this prevents the beard from being dry and curly. Use Reuzel beard foam, this helps with the puffiness of the beard and also softens it while helping your skin fight the itchy stage it goes through. And finally, for the desired look, use Reuzel beard balm, this helps it keep its shape and form.”
