What’s a better way to start the week than knowing that you stand a chance at winning one of two bottles of Shanky’s Whip from the fine folks at Cutler Drinks? Well, besides maybe celebrating a glorious Springbok victory over the All Blacks, there is no better way.

Shanky’s Whip is made from black Irish Whiskey (whisky aged in charred barrels – hence the black part), un-aged Irish spirit, and then blended with natural flavours and caramel. In Ireland it’s not uncommon for an Irish Whiskey shot to be dropped into a pint of Guinness (we suspect Irish men are tougher than men elsewhere) and Shank‎y’s recreates this soft creamy-rich flavour. The resulting spirit is midnight black, with a sweet smoothness underpinned with spicy Irish Whiskey notes.

Distilled in Co. Cavan and blended and bottled by Shanky & Shireman under bond in Ireland, Shanky’s features a label inspired by vintage Irish matchbox artwork and showcases Irish jockey, Shanky, a wild boy of racing. Always one to buck the trend, when thrown from his horse, he returned to the race track with an ostrich and cart and, of course, a whip.

To further stand out from the crowd, Shanky’s still uses the traditional bottle shape that is a throwback to its original vintage Irish milk bottle, giving it not only a unique taste, but a unique look too.
