Women Crush Wednesday: Anji Woodley

She may be an actress, but according to our records, Anji Woodley is also a real foodie and fitness fanatic at heart!

The talented star, who’s worked in both film and theatre, is also an animal activist, loves the bush, and is a proud ambassador for Captured in Africa Foundation, but even with all her commitments, there’s a lot more to this silver-screen beauty, so we caught up with her for our latest Women Crush Wednesday feature:

Adventurous, sporty, creative, passionate, emotional.

Relationship status?
Married and awesome.

What’s your idea of the perfect date?
A picnic and an outdoor movie with some wine and yummy cheeses and fresh breads, or something outdoorsy. Even simple, like a movie and a pizza with a wine on the couch.

Who is your celebrity crush and why?
I know that this question is directed to a male celebrity, but I just can’t get enough of actress Sarah Paulson (from American Horror Story) she is just the most phenomenal actress , all the different and challenge roles she is faced with makes for some great TV and gives me such a huge amount inspiration and admiration!

What do you look for in a man?
I look for in a man, someone who is loving, friendly, caring and respectful. Someone who laughs at me and with me, defends me when I need defending, helps me and supports my dreams – as I would for him. Willingness to trying new things. A man that has goals and is determined yet not scared to fail… I’m not a very materialist kinda’ gal, so physique isn’t a huge thing for me because a body can change with diet and exercise.

When you were little you wanted to be?
An actress! I deviated off that path for a while but I came back, and I am excited for what the future has in store for me.

Your biggest relationship deal breaker (or turn off) is?
Doesn’t like animals, constant lies, drugs or if a man belittling me, my dreams, my friends, my family.

What do you like to do for fun or to relax?
I do boxing/martial arts for fun at Crazy Monkey Defence gym, and I love walking the dogs. For relaxation, I love a spoil at the Life Day Spa in Fourways, and indulge in a massage followed by a steam.

Best surprise gift you ever received from your partner or a loved one?
On our holiday in Thailand, for our anniversary, my then-boyfriend proposed! He got down on one knee with a gorgeous sapphire ring.

If you could instantly download a special skills or super powers like an app what would they be?
OMG! That’s the coolest question ever! There is a host of powers I would love! Telekinesis (moving things with my mind) and teleportation. So I can get anywhere I want at any time in an instant. I would truly love to wake up one day and BOOM – superhero!

Right now, what are you completely obsessed with?
Boxing & self-defence training, and binge watching American Horror Story. Can’t get enough of it

What would people be surprised to know about you?
Possibly that I had undergone corrective double jaw surgery a few years ago.

What are you most looking forward to this year?
Change, adventure & growth in my career, I am about to embark on a journey with my best friend (my husband) it’s a huge leap of faith. It’s scary and If there could be a big test on us and our careers ,it will be this.

What can’t you live without?
Cheese, bread, fruit and Charl (my hubby), in no particular order.

Who is your favourite celeb #couplegoals duo?
Meryl Streep & Don Gummer, they have been married for 36 years, and still going strong.

Quick fun facts:

Favourite chocolate? Honest chocolate in Cape Town, sadly I have to wait to have it when I visit CT.
Favourite TV show? American Horror Story and Breaking Bad!
Favourite Movie? The Theory of Everything (a movie on Stephan hawking) but I have so many!
Favourite Travel Accessory? My ruby Lipault bowler bag, it also is big enough to fit in a little overnight items.
Favourite Clothing Brand?  Hmmmm, I’d have to say Mango, Elle and Old Khaki.
Favourite childhood memory? Summertime at the Woodley’s rock pool, eating mangos and spending the whole day in the pool!
Favourite go to hangout? Churchills Bar for a night out with the girls, or simply going to my best friends house – Kerryn and Kirsty.
Favourite local sportsman? This is a toughie…. I’d probably say Elton Jantjies cause I’ve hung out with him a few times and he’s super cool!
