3 Most-Anticipated Movies to Watch this July
Check out what’s hitting the big and small screen this July.
The July movie line-up isn’t jam-packed with too many releases, but what is on the cards is pretty enticing. From a classic franchise making a comeback to a dream team-up for the Marvel universe, here are the movies to watch this July:
Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F
Release date: 3 July (Netflix)
Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F, Netflix is propping up its big original feature this July, which so happens to be the fourth instalment into the beloved Beverly Hills Cop franchise. The always-charismatic Eddy Murphy is back as Detroit detective Axel Foley who returns to Beverly Hills, thirty years after his last visit. This time, Foley must team up with a new partner — played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt — when his daughter’s (Taylour Paige) life is threatened. Some classic characters make appearances and series newcomer Kevin Bacon is also part of the action as Captain Grant.
Twisters
Release date: 12 July (theatres)
The long-in-development sequel/reboot to 1996’s Twister arrives this month, and ups the ante on the storm-disaster because there are more of them, you know, being called Twisters, and all. Directed by Lee Isaac Chung, the Oscar-nominated writer-director of Minari, Twisters stars Golden Globe nominee Daisy Edgar-Jones (Where the Crawdads Sing, Normal People) and Glen Powell (Anyone But You, Top Gun: Maverick) as opposing forces who come together to try to predict, and possibly tame, the immense power of tornadoes.
Deadpool & Wolverine
Release date: 26 July 2024
The long-awaited third Deadpool film, titled Deadpool and Wolverine, sees Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) team up with Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) on an adventure through the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The premise sees the Time Variance Authority (TVA), which we were introduced to in the Loki TV show, pull Deadpool from his quiet life and set him on a mission that will change the history of the MCU with Wolverine. Emma Corrin, Morena Baccarin, Rob Delaney, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni, and Matthew Macfadyen also star.
