July rolls in the summer movie period in Hollywood, despite it being rather chilly down here in the Republic, but that still means that we get to indulge in some big blockbusters to keep us warm. From a horror favourite making its return to the world’s craziest 61-year-old, here are the spectacles to enjoy this July:

Insidious: The Red Door

Release date: 7 July 2023

One of modern horror’s most famous franchises returns for a final instalment as Insidious: The Red Door arrives this July. The series’ original cast returns for the final chapter of the Lambert family’s terrifying saga. To put their demons to rest once and for all, Josh (Patrick Wilson) and a college-aged Dalton (Ty Simpkins) must go deeper into The Further than ever before, facing their family’s dark past and a host of new and more horrifying terrors that lurk behind the red door.

Oppenheimer

Release date: 21 July 2023

Coming from Christopher Nolan, the acclaimed director behind The Dark Knight TrilogyInception, and Tenet, Oppenheimer tells the story of American scientist J. Robert Oppenheimer and his role in the development of the atomic bomb. The cast is jam-packed with some serious talent, including Kenneth Branagh, Cillian Murphy, Florence Pugh, Robert Downey Jr., and Gary Oldman.

Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part 1

Release date: 14 July 2023

The long-running IMF agency is on track for another daring espionage adventure in July, with the seventh Mission Impossible set for release. Of course, Tom Cruise returns, alongside Ving Rhames, Henry Czerny, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Vanessa Kirby, and Frederick Schmidt, all of whom will reprise their roles from the previous films. Newcomers include Hayley Atwell, Pom Klementieff, Shea Whigham, Esai Morales, Rob Delaney, Charles Parnell, Indira Varma, Mark Gatiss, and Cary Elwes. Not too much is known about the plot, but we can confirm that the sequel features Tom Cruise on a motorbike, Tom Cruise running, and Tom Cruise fighting people — so the cool stuff you really want to see in a Mission Impossible movie.
