2024 is set to be a bumper year for blockbusters, with some highly-anticipated sequels, franchise entries, and exciting new projects on the cards for movie-lovers to gawk at. We’ve rounded up some of the hottest and most-anticipated movies to get your popcorn ready for in 2024:

The Beekeeper

Release date: 12 January 2024

Jason Statham is quite a dynamic actor. From wrestling sharks to fighting The Rock, he’s done it all. But, now he takes on his toughest assignment: being a beekeeper. In The Beekeeper, Statham plays a mysterious beekeeper who embarks on a brutal campaign for vengeance after he is revealed to be a former operative of a powerful and clandestine organisation known as “Beekeepers.” Pretty on-the-nose disguise, but we’ll buy it.

Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire

Release date: 24 April 2024

the anticipated next entry into Legendary and WB’s Monsterverse is now titled Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire, emphasising the uneasy (but necessary) alliance that the iconic nuclear lizard and giant ape have forged to fight off the other Titans on Earth.

Kraven the Hunter

Release date: 30 August 2024

The Sony/Marvel cinematic spin-off universe is expanding, with the next Spider-Man villain solo film, Kraven the Hunter. The film, which is rated R, continues the groundwork laid by other standalone anti-hero films, which feature the two Venom films, along with Jared Leto’s Morbius, which are all interconnected and tell the origin tales of Spider-Man’s most iconic foes. Kraven the Hunter explores the beginnings and rise of Sergei Kravinoff (played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson), a big-game hunter who is given incredible strength, speed, and tracking powers, along with the ability to influence animals.

Furiosa: A Mad Max Story

Release date: 24 May 2024

On the prequel side of things, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga will tell the story of Furiosa, who was played by Charlize Theron in 2015’s Mad Mad: Fury Road. This time, The Queen’s Gambit Anya Taylor-Joy takes on the role of the legendary warrior who has to fight for survival in a ravaged, petro-fueled post-apocalyptic world.

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes

Release date: 2024

Continuing on from the Planet of the Apes trilogy that began with 2011’s Rise of the Planet of the Apes and concluded with 2017’s War for the Planet of the Apes, this next instalment in the arc is called Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, and takes place “many years after” the events of the last film, picking up with Cornelius, the son of Caeser who fronted the last three entries.
