Magpie

Daisey Ridley (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) stars in this thriller that follows a father who chaperones his daughter who is set to star in a movie alongside a famous actress. Everything seems fine and dandy, but the father soon finds himself falling in love with the actress, which could have dire consequences for his whole family.

Red One

Release date: 8 November 2024

Dwayne Johnson’s knack for having a film out at any given time isn’t taking a break, as the action star is set to headline Red One, a Christmas-themed action movie that also stars Chris Evans (Captain America). The plot follows Santa Claus, who is kidnapped from the North Pole, which sets his E.L.F. (Extremely Large and Formidable) operative forces into action to save him.

Gladiator II

Release date: 15 November 2024

While it’s been 24 years since the release of the first film (yes, you can check that), the sequel for Gladiator is hitting this November. Once again coming from Ridley Scott, Gladiator II picks up two decades after the death of Caesar and the events of Gladiator. The story now follows Lucius — the grandson of Rome’s former emperor Marcus Aurelius and son of Lucilla — who lives with his wife and child in Numidia. Roman soldiers led by general Marcus Acacius invade, forcing Lucius into slavery. Inspired by the story of Maximus, as depicted in the original 2000 film, Lucius resolves to fight as a gladiator while opposing the rule of the young emperors Caracalla and Geta.

Liam Neeson is back in another dad-revenge thriller that sees him playing an ageing gangster who attempts to reconnect with his children and rectify the mistakes in his past. However, the criminal underworld of his former life won’t loosen their grip willingly.

Anthony Mackie (Captain America: The Winter Soldier, 8 Mile) and Morena Baccarin (Deadpool) star in this action-monster movie, which follows a single father and two women who must venture from the safety of their home and face dangerous creatures in order to save the life of a child.
