Which movies should be on your radar this December?
Rounding off the 2022 movie release schedule are a number of big releases, including a long-awaited sequel, some lighthearted comedies, and a dark twist on good ole Saint Nick. Here are the movies arriving in December:
Violent Night
Release date: 2 December 2022
It’s that time of year when a wealth of Christmas movies roll out of the woodwork, but one festive-themed movie is taking quite a different spin on the usual cheer and whimsicality. Violent Night stars Stranger Things‘ David Harbour as Santa Claus, who gets caught up in a hostage-saving situation when some dangerous men rob the house he’s visiting. It looks fun, dark, and we can’t wait to check it out.
The Estate
Release date: 2 December 2022
Toni Collette, Anna Faris, David Duchovny, and Rosemarie DeWitt headline this ensemble comedy about two sisters who aim to win over their estranged and terminally ill aunt in order to become sole beneficiaries of her vast estate. However, they realise that they’re not the only ones with a plan to get onto their aunt’s will.
Lamborghini: The Man Behind the Legend
Release date: 9 December 2022
Lamborghini: The Man Behind the Legend is a biographical film written and directed by Robert Moresco and starring Frank Grillo, telling the story of Ferruccio Lamborghini and his rise. to fame and the growth of his vehicle empire.
Avatar: The Way of Water
Release date: 16 December 2022
It’s been 13 years since the original, but we’re finally getting a sequel to CGI spectacle Avatar this December. Set more than a decade after the events of the first film, Avatar: The Way of Water picks up with the Sully family (Jake, Neytiri, and their kids) and a new threat that they have to face. The sequel is once again directed and produced by James Cameron, and also marks the return of Zoe Saldana, Sam Worthington, Sigourney Weaver, and Stephen Lang, along with some new additions to the cast including Kate Winslet, Cliff Curtis, Joel David Moore, CCH Pounder, Edie Falco, and Jemaine Clement.
Shotgun Wedding
Release date: 30 December 2022
If you’re looking for a bit of comedy this December, Jennifer Lopez and Josh Duhamel star in Shotgun Wedding, following Darcy and Tom as a bickering couple questioning their impending marriage. However, the two must work together to save their loved ones when the entire wedding party is taken hostage.
The Fabelmans
Release date: 30 December 2022
Michelle Williams, Paul Dano, and Seth Rogan star in this film loosely based on Steven Spielberg’s childhood growing up in post-World War II era Arizona. It follows a young man named Sammy Fabelman who discovers a shattering family secret, and explores how the power of movies helps us see the truth about each other and ourselves.
